Double Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering (MII) and Advanced Design in Mechanical Engineering (MDAIM)

A curriculum is proposed for jointly pursuing the Master's Degrees in Industrial Engineering (MII) and Advanced Design in Mechanical Engineering (MDAIM), based on the complementarity between the two qualifications.

The Master's Degree in Advanced Design in Mechanical Engineering has a primarily specialized professional focus, although it also includes a scientific and research component.

The objective of the Master's Degree in Advanced Design in Mechanical Engineering is to train postgraduate students with expertise in all the topics covered in the courses, primarily Mechanics of Solids, Dynamics of Mechanical Systems, Numerical Methods, Fluid Mechanics, Composite Materials, Fracture and Fatigue Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing, and Biomechanics.

This Master's program is specifically designed for graduates in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology Engineering who wish to enhance their skills in the field of Mechanical Engineering, whether for professional practice in this area or to begin a research career.

It aims to equip engineering graduates with postgraduate knowledge that will be useful for their professional integration into various departments of private companies, including R&D, and the public sector, as well as for access to positions as professors or researchers at universities and public research centers. All of this is within the field of Mechanical Engineering. In this vein, the program seeks to provide university-educated engineering graduates with access to comprehensive training geared towards the professional world in the relevant sectors and specialized training on different aspects of the technology they will use in the companies where they join. Furthermore, this Master's program complements students' training so that, if they so wish, they can enroll in doctoral programs and dedicate themselves to teaching and research in the future.

Current legislation considers the profession of Industrial Engineer a regulated profession whose practice requires possession of the corresponding official Master's degree. The Master's degree in Industrial Engineering includes all the necessary competencies to acquire the professional qualifications of the regulated profession of Industrial Engineer, complying with all the precepts of Ministerial Order CIN/311/2009 (Official State Gazette of February 18, 2009) which establishes the requirements for the verification of official university degrees that qualify for the practice of the profession of Industrial Engineer, qualifications that are set out in the Decree of September 18, 1935, published in the Gazette of Madrid on September 20, 1935.

Additionally, it is necessary to take into account that the Master's in Industrial Engineering includes a Leveling Block, made up of subjects designed to ensure that all students of the Industrial Engineering program (comprising the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology Engineering plus the Master's in Industrial Engineering) acquire the same competencies, regardless of the degree with which they access the Master's program. These subjects, which are part of the elective module of the Master's in Industrial Engineering, must be taken, if the Master's Academic Committee deems it necessary, in addition to the 147 credits of the double Master's degree as supplementary training. The master's degree provides students with a solid scientific foundation, as well as a wide variety of knowledge in various industrial technologies (mechanics, electricity, electronics, automation, materials, industrial construction, projects, production, chemistry and environment, energy, and industrial organization), which shapes them as multidisciplinary professionals capable of developing their professional work in industries, companies or public bodies, as well as for the free practice of the profession.
