Units of Excellence: ENGREEN

The “ Unit of Excellence Laboratory of Engineering for Energy and Environmental Sustainability ” was created on June 22, 2020 by the Governing Council of the University of Seville, according to agreement 6.1.1/CG 22-6-20. It currently uses the name ENGREEN .

Its fundamental objective is the establishment of a Unit of Excellence among different research groups at the University of Seville, working within the Higher Technical School of Engineering, focusing on engineering for energy and environmental sustainability. The aim is to achieve, in the coming years, the required quality of the research team necessary for a positive evaluation and accreditation under the "María de Maeztu Units of Excellence" call for proposals within the State Subprogram for Institutional Strengthening, as part of the State Program for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research of Excellence of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2017-2020 and future programs.

ENGREEN brings together a critical mass of internationally renowned researchers, working in complementary areas, with experience in collaboration on some specific topics and with an interest in working more intensively together, combining efforts to achieve greater synergy and a multidisciplinary character.

It has around twenty researchers who carry out their work at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville in the following departments:

• Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics

• Systems and Automation Engineering

• Electrical Engineering

• Electronic Engineering

• Energy Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing

• Chemical and Environmental Engineering

• Mechanics of Continuous Media and Theory of Structures

• Industrial Organization and Business Management I

The Unit has been working together since its creation in 2020 and many collaborative actions have already been carried out, obtaining results in the form of publications in JCR journals and participation in projects and networks.
