Jaime Sierra Muñoz

Predoctoral researcher at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission and the Politecnico di Milano

"The years of the ETSI were the first of my technical training. Although at that time we may not have realized it, a great number of tools and situations were made available to us so that the problems and challenges that came later were easier to overcome .”

"I am a Civil Engineer graduated from the ETSI, where I had the opportunity to study an Erasmus year at the Politecnico di Milano, and later I obtained the Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Canals and Ports at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. After finishing this training, I had a brief experience as a transport modeler and, later, I started working as a project technician in the Highway Department of AYESA, in Seville. For two years, there I had the opportunity to learn how work in a large company works and how it works. They develop construction projects of all kinds, from large highways to urban renewal interventions with sustainable mobility as a guide. Pursuing this goal, considering a necessary transformation towards more habitable urban spaces on a human scale, led me to a total change of sector, accepting a change. research proposal within the framework of doctoral studies. The opportunity that the Politecnico of Milan and the European Commission has given me allows me to delve deeper into the challenges that automobile dependence poses to the most rural and territorially dispersed societies, promoting changes in the way we have to understand mobility and territorial planning."
