The Department of Social Psychology requests the collaboration of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi) in a longitudinal research study.

Participation involves completing an anonymous questionnaire , the purpose of which is to obtain a representative sample of all faculties. The study guarantees complete anonymity pseudonymization process , and participation is entirely voluntary .

Phase 1 of data collection (T1) begins immediately and will last a maximum of four weeks .

The collaboration of ETSi students is essential to ensure the quality and scientific validity of the study. The participation of all interested parties is appreciated.

Key Features of the Study (Phase 1 of 2):

1. Anonymity Guaranteed: Your responses are completely anonymous. Your name and email address will never be collected.

2. Longitudinal Procedure: To match your responses in Phase 2 (in 4 months), you will need to create a pseudonym code (alias) that only you will know. This code is mandatory .  Remember this alias for the second phase of the study .

3. Duration: The survey takes approximately 7-8 minutes to complete.

Summary:  "4D printing" refers to the manufacturing, through "3D printing," of structures capable of evolving over time—the "fourth dimension"—under a predefined stimulus. Shape-shifting, self-repairing, and self-assembling structures are some of the characteristics associated with 4D objects, highlighting that these are no longer static elements but active, programmable structures that could find applications in everyday activities and even in life sciences.

Biography : Carmelo De Maria is an Associate Professor in Bioengineering at the Dept. of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa (Italy) and carries out his research in the Biofabrication Laboratory of the Center “E. Piaggio” of the same Institution. He is the author of several peer-reviewed papers and he is involved in research projects funded by public and private entities, focused on the 3D/4D printing for the valorization of polymers derived from biomasses and for the development of advanced therapies and innovative medical devices. Finally, De Maria is active in international cooperation to increase the access to safe and sustainable medical technologies in low-resource settings.

National Competition for Master's Theses in the Engineering Projects modality. 2025 [WITHDRAWN]

The Federation of Associations of Industrial Engineers of Spain (FAIIE) announces the 2025 edition of the National Competition for Master's Theses in the Engineering Projects category.
The prize includes €3,000, free membership for one year, and a certificate for both the author and supervisor of the winning Master's Thesis.
Schools must submit their submitted Master's Theses by January 17, 2026.

The Spanish Institute of Engineering promotes young engineers with the 2nd "Young Engineers for a Better World" Competition

EUDIS Defense Hackathon 2025 [RETIRED]

An international event organized by the European Space Agency in collaboration with its technology broker in Spain.
The event will take place in Madrid, at the ETSIAE (School of Aerospace Engineering), from October 17-19, 2025, and will bring together researchers and professionals from the sector to develop innovative solutions in the defense and space fields. Over a weekend, teams will work with the support of specialized mentors and present their proposals to an expert jury, addressing technological challenges posed by the ESA.
The three main challenges presented to participants are:
Protection of space assets: resilience against physical and cyber threats to infrastructure and satellites;
Geospatial analysis for multi-domain operations: AI-based tools and Earth observation for situational awareness;
and Resilience with unmanned systems: development of low-cost, rapidly deployable autonomous aerial, maritime, or land-based solutions.

Participation is free and open to citizens of the European Union and may be of great interest to researchers and groups from our engineering schools.

This system will allow for scenario simulation, risk anticipation, and automated responses to large gatherings, thanks to the use of advanced computing, 5G networks, and artificial intelligence tools.

This is your opportunity to participate in a high-impact international event. The European Commission, through the European Commissioner for Defence and Security, Andrius Kubilius, is launching the EUDIS 2025 Defence Hackathon, a pan-European competition seeking innovative solutions in the field of defence and security. First Joint Symposium of the CEA Thematic Groups: Tribute to Professor Francisco Rodríguez Rubio [RETIRED]

From January 22nd to 24th, the ETSI (School of Engineering) will host the "1st Joint Symposium of the CEA (Continuing Education Council) Thematic Groups on Control Engineering, Modeling, Simulation and Optimization, and Automation Education (SIME25)." One of the main events of the program will be a tribute to Professor Francisco Rodríguez Rubio, former director of the ETSI. This event will take place on Thursday, January 23rd at 6:30 pm in the Graduation Hall. Professor Rodríguez Rubio will first deliver a plenary lecture entitled "Solar Energy and its Control: Key to the Energy Transition," followed by a tribute to him. The symposium's organizing committee has decided that the event will be open to the public, and all ETSI professors are invited to attend until the hall reaches capacity

Leonardo Scholarships - BBVA Foundation [WITHDRAWN]

The BBVA Foundation's 2024 Leonardo Grants for Scientific Research and Cultural Creation, limited to the fields of Physics and Chemistry and Engineering, are designed to support the development of personal and innovative projects by researchers at an intermediate stage of their careers, residing in Spain and between 30 and 45 years old (inclusive) at the time of application. UNIVERSITY INTERNSHIPS IN RURAL ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE 2024-25 ACADEMIC YEAR [WITHDRAWN]

The University of Seville has launched a call for applications for rural internships funded by the Seville Provincial Council. The internships last three months and will take place between January 1 and April 25, 2025, in Seville province towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, or between 5,000 and 15,000 inhabitants if they have experienced depopulation in the last 10 years. The deadline for companies to submit their proposals is December 5, and students can apply until December 9, 2024.
