Title:  "4D printing"

Summary:  "4D printing" refers to the manufacturing, through "3D printing," of structures capable of evolving over time—the "fourth dimension"—under a predefined stimulus. Shape-shifting, self-repairing, and self-assembling structures are some of the characteristics associated with 4D objects, highlighting that these are no longer static elements but active, programmable structures that could find applications in everyday activities and even in life sciences.

Biography : Carmelo De Maria is an Associate Professor in Bioengineering at the Dept. of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa (Italy) and carries out his research in the Biofabrication Laboratory of the Center “E. Piaggio” of the same Institution. He is the author of several peer-reviewed papers and he is involved in research projects funded by public and private entities, focused on the 3D/4D printing for the valorization of polymers derived from biomasses and for the development of advanced therapies and innovative medical devices. Finally, De Maria is active in international cooperation to increase the access to safe and sustainable medical technologies in low-resource settings.

EUDIS Defense Hackathon 2025 [RETIRED]

International event organized by the European Space Agency in collaboration with its technology broker in Spain.
The event will take place in Madrid, at the ETSIAE, from October 17 to 19, 2025, and will bring together researchers and professionals from the sector to develop innovative solutions in the fields of defense and space. Over the course of a weekend, teams will work with the support of specialized mentors and present their proposals to solve technological challenges posed by ESA before an expert jury.
The three main challenges posed to participants are:
Protection of space assets: resilience against physical and cyber threats to infrastructure and satellites;
Geospatial analysis for multi-domain operations: AI-based tools and Earth observation for situational awareness;

Technical Meeting on Flood Management in the Guadalquivir Basin, May 14 [retired]

On Wednesday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m., a meeting will be held in the ETSI Hall of ETSI. Navarro, head of the Civil Protection Service (General Directorate of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Junta de Andalucía) to dialogue about the management of floods in the Guadalquivir basin. During the event, talks will be held on how the hydrological monitoring of the floods is carried out in the Guadalquivir basin, what paper the reservoirs play in these floods and how the emergencies they cause are managed.

Aeronautical Literary Contest on the figure of Emilio Herrera Linares [RETIRED]

The ENAIRE Foundation annually calls the literary contest of a brief story "I tell you in the air" in order to contribute to the dissemination of the aeronautical world, reflect its influence on society, as well as publicize the figure of Emilio Herrera Linares.

The best story award is endowed with € 1,000. In addition, the jury will select 30 finalist stories that, together with the winning story, will be edited in a digital book that the ENAIRE Foundation will publish on its website. Likewise, if the jury estimates it appropriate, a special recognition endowed with € 500 (to deduct the corresponding taxes) to one of the 30 finalist stories can be granted.

Research Aid for Official Master's Final Projects. This is an initiative aimed at recognizing and promoting the talent of those university students who carry out their postgraduate studies by pursuing an official master's degree related to aspects of innovation or digital transformation in those activities that RTVE has entrusted as a Public Service. Likewise, Impulsa Visión Research Aid wants to recognize the work of the university as a fundamental element in the development of the audiovisual sector and its essential role in the future of the media. To this end, these grants are created for research projects that will result in Master's Thesis (TFM) on the topics determined in each call, the present one being 'Hate Speeches in the Media and in the Social networks'
