Name : Allegory of Engineering
Location : Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI). Main facade. Abroad
Origin : The sculpture was made on the occasion of the creation in Seville of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers, in the building designed by the architects Jaime López de Asiain and Manuel Blanco Diaz (1964-1967) on Avenida Reina Mercedes. Installed in the garden of its façade, it was designed in close relationship with the environment in which it was located and conceived parallel to the building that housed it. Later the sculpture was moved to the main entrance of the current ETSI building on Isla de la Cartuja, which was the Plaza de América Pavilion at Expo 92, in a large place where it can be seen from all angles.

Measurements : 110 x 185 x 89 cm. Pedestal: 170 x 108 x 75 cm. Current total height of the set: 280 cm.

General description : Abstract composition with a play of contrasts between different volumes, textures and lines, which give it considerable artistic value.
On the concrete pedestal, in a prismatic shape, there is the engraved emblem and the label in capital letters of the “Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers”. This makes the complex represent a testimony of the beginnings of the Higher Technical School of Engineering in Seville.

Observations: The sculpture, with a modern composition, is an interesting example of contemporary art in the city of Seville.
