Hitachi Energy PCS Chair
The Hitachi Energy PCS Chair was established through the close relationship between the University of Seville and Power Conversion Solutions (PCS), a global unit integrated within Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation business, with a presence in Seville. Hitachi Energy PCS specializes in the design and manufacture of power converters, battery energy storage solutions (BESS), and advanced systems for integrating renewable energy into electrical grids. Its Seville facilities support global projects and contribute to Hitachi Energy's role as a driver of a more secure, affordable, and sustainable energy system. This initiative consolidates a long-standing collaboration between the two organizations in fields such as electrical engineering, electronics, power electronics, and advanced energy systems.
The chair's focus is on applications of power electronics, renewable energy integration, energy storage, and the digitalization of electrical systems. Furthermore, the collaboration between the two institutions helps to formalize partnerships with engineering students, who will play a key role in the future of Spain's industrial and technological ecosystem. Through the chair, both organizations promote the training of experts, foster meetings between academics and companies in the sector, and encourage research, development, and innovation projects with direct industrial applications.
The aim of the Chair is to bring real industrial challenges closer to students and researchers, while contributing to accelerating innovation in power conversion and energy storage from Seville.
The Chair will support the organization of seminars, technical workshops, and conferences. It will also promote undergraduate and master's theses related to the Chair's thematic areas, as well as scholarships and internship programs for students. Furthermore, it will support the development of doctoral dissertations in its field as a clear commitment to fostering innovation in the sector.
