Professor Carlos Bordons Alba appointed IEEE Fellow

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has granted the Professor of Systems and Automatic Engineering of the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville , Carlos Bordons Alba , the appointment as IEEE Fellow , which implies the highest distinction within this institution. The condition of IEEE Fellow is a prestigious recognition granted to those members who have made outstanding contributions in technological areas . In the case of Professor Bordons, society has recognized "its contributions to the predictive control of industrial processes and energy systems."

Professor Bordons joins his appointment to the list of professors from the University of Seville who had previously received this distinction. In total there are 14 professors of the US that are part of this select group , being 68 the total of Spanish universities that have been appointed IEEE Fellow. These data place the US as a Spanish university with the highest number of IEEE Fellow members , followed by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Polytechnic of Catalonia.

Of the 14 distinguished professors with this appointment, nine belong to departments based in the Higher Technical School of Engineering and five based in the Faculty of Physics .

IEEE is a world professional organization dedicated to the advancement of technology in areas such as electrical, electronic control, automatic control, telecommunications, computer science and other related disciplines. IEEE is known for its technical standards, scientific publications and conferences, in addition to being the largest association of engineers in the world , with more than 460,000 members in more than 190 countries, dedicated to the progress of technology for the benefit of humanity . Only 0.1% of the members are elevated to the Fellow category every year.

Professor Carlos Bordons Alba is Professor of Systems and Automatic Engineering and Director of the Unit of Excellence CREGEN (Engineering Laboratory for Energy and Environmental Sustainability), visiting professor at the University of Technology Sydney, belongs to the Board of Directors of the Spanish Automatic Committee (CEA), is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Technological Corporation of the Technological Corporation of Andalusia. AICIA, member of the Council of the European Union Control Association and deputy director of the ETSI. Figure in the ranking published by Stanford University, which includes the most influential researchers in the world.

His research focuses on the advanced process control , especially on predictive control and its application to energy systems, including micro -green and green hydrogen. He is co -author of several books on the subject, among which are "Model Predictive Control" (3 editions) and "Model Predictive Control of Microgrids", published by Springer.
