Eduardo Fernández Camacho receives prestigious International Prize for his career in Education in Control
The teacher Eduardo Fernandez Camacho has been awarded the IFAC TC Award: Control Education Life Time Achievement, an international recognition of its outstanding trajectory and contribution in the field of automatic control education.
This prestigious award is awarded by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC: International Federation of Automatic Control) and was delivered within the framework of the Ifac symposium on advances in control education, held in Budapest (Hungary) during the month of June 2025.
The award recognizes a career dedicated to the formation, research and promotion of knowledge in the area of automatic control, consolidating Eduardo Fernández Camacho as a reference figure in the academic and international field.
A fruitful and extensive career
Professor Fernández Camacho is an industrial engineer and emeritus professor at the University of Seville. Pioneer of the methodology called 'Predictive Control', has written different international reference publications, including Model Predicive Control, and innumerable articles in magazines.
He was president of the European Union Control Association (EUCA) and presided over the International Affairs Committee of the Control Systems Society (CSS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He was also a member of the IEEE CSS Board and the Council of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). He is an honorary member of IFAC and IEEE societies.
In 2018, he received one of the prestigious subsidies Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) For research in the optimal control of thermosoles systems. He has directed 37 doctoral theses and has been the main researcher of multiple projects with regional, national and European financing. He has also carried out numerous transfer projects for companies, mainly in the field of solar energy and industrial processes.
Among the awards received is the National Automatic Award, granted by the Spanish Automatic Committee (CEA), the FAMA Award of the University of Seville and the Javier Benjumea Puigcerver Prize of the Focus Foundation.
