A team of Sevillian students wins the second prize in the III Telecommunications Olympics Teleco Games

The IES Isbilya of Seville wins the second prize in the III Telecommunications Olympics Telec Games

The Sevillian team, which represented the University of Seville after winning the local phase, has been awarded nationally for its innovative solar energy project.

The Isbilya Secondary Education Institute , from Seville, has won the Second National Prize in the III Telecommunications Olympics Teleco Games , thanks to its Ecomckck project: Environmental Assessment for Solar Energy , focused on the intelligent and sustainable use of solar energy.

The team, composed of students Daniel Farfán Rodríguez, Antonio Alexis Fraile Díaz, Nicolás Samanes García and José Manuel Tierno Collado , under the coordination of Professor Francisco Javier Ruano Vázquez , agreed to the national phase after being the winner of the local phase held at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville . As local winners, they represented the US in this national edition of the Teleco Games.

The awards ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure , in Madrid, with the participation of the finalist teams throughout Spain. Creativity, technical rigor and commitment to the sustainable development objectives were especially recognized .

1,600 students and 26 universities from all over the country have participated in this edition The objective of the contest was to develop technological solutions linked to SDG 7: affordable and non -polluting energy . Among the awarded projects are also a intelligent solar clothesline, an electric generator built with a bicycle and a washing machine, and a robot with artificial intelligence for the classification of waste.

Matías González , general secretary of Telecommunications, congratulated the winners and stressed that "technology must contribute to improve the lives of people." For his part, Luis Miguel Chapinal , Dean of Coitt , stressed "the incredible potential that our young people have" and the importance of continuing to promote technological vocations.

This national recognition of IES Isbilya values the talent of Sevillian students and the commitment of the Higher Technical Engineering School of the University of Seville with the promotion of science, engineering and sustainability among the youngest.
