The Academic Ranking of World University (ARWU), better known as the Shanghai Ranking, once again places the University of Seville among the top 500 in the world. Specifically, in 2024 the US is ranked 485.

The Shanghai Ranking is one of the main university classifications at an international level, which measures, among other parameters, the quality of the research carried out as well as the assessment of the different branches of knowledge and disciplines taught, these being key for the US to have maintained its positioning, even climbing positions compared to previous editions.

In Spain, only 10 universities are within the Top 500, the US being the tenth. In Andalusia, only Granada and Seville are among the ten best in Spain, according to this classification.

In this edition, as usual, different disciplines taught at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville have stood out in the classification that the ranking itself carries out in detail by areas of knowledge. The best valued in the engineering area are Automation and Control and Civil Engineering , which enters this assessment for the first time. Both are in the range of positions 101-150 worldwide, with Automation and Control occupying first place nationally.

In the next range of positions, 151-200 , Mathematics stands out , taught among other centers at the University of Seville in the ETSi, as well as the positioning of Mechanical Engineering in 5th place nationally.

These excellent results reinforce both the University of Seville at an international level, as well as the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville itself, where more than 6,000 students are trained, who are also highly in demand by industry and society.
