Vantus Aerodesign Team is crowned champion at the Xtrachallenge 2025

Vantus Aerodesign Team, The aeromodellicism team of the University of Seville, has closed its third season with the greatest success of its trajectory, The first national position at the Xtrachallenge 2025 Thanks to your prototype Orange blossom, in a competition that brought together pointer universities in Spain, France and Germany. In addition, your second prototype, Hispalis, he obtained a Meritory sixth place, together with an outstanding mention for its technical and documentary excellence.

Celebrated from July 8 to 11 in Valencia, the Xtrachallenge 2025 has been the edition with the highest technological level and quality of equipment to date. 14 European university teams and 4 aeromodelling clubs participated in it, all with the common objective of designing, building and flying an aircraft capable of transporting as much liquid load as possible, efficiently and safely.

From the beginning of the competition, Orange blossom He stood out for his performance. With a high -wing configuration, conventional tail and a load capacity of up to 1100 milliliters of water, he achieved the highest score in static tests (230 of 250 points), and remained leader in all phases, ending with 779 points, which crowned him like Absolute champion in the university category. This triumph reinforces Vantus's position as a reference in the national aeromodelling scene.

For its part, the second team of the team, Hispalis, was conceived as a technical development and learning platform. With a V -tail configuration, low wing with dihedral and retractable train, its design incorporated additional challenges in order to expand the knowledge of the team for future competitions. His excellent technical documentation earned him a distinction in the section of Best technical report, and his results in flight assured him a Sixth place with 709 points, just 70 from the champion.

This double success is the result of a continuous process of innovation, in which Vantus has incorporated advanced technologies in composite materials, structural design and electronic integration. All this has been possible thanks to the support of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville, whose support has been key for the team to place Andalusia already Spain on the European map of aeronautical innovation.

Paula Terrón González, director of the team, has expressed:

"Three years ago we began this adventure with a group of students who wanted to bring knowledge beyond the classroom. Today, seeing us as champions of Spain and technical references is an immense reward for the effort, dedication and passion of all members. This project, born of pure motivation, has shown that the university can also fly high."

With these achievements, Vantus Aerodesign Team not only concludes a success season, but also enters a new phase of consolidation. The team already prepares its participation in the Air Cargo Challenge 2026, in addition to embarking on new lines of research that will continue to place the University of Seville at the forefront of European University Aeronautics.
