The chair of cybersecurity and Basec cyberinage of the University of Seville celebrates its inaugural session
The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville has celebrated the presentation of the Cybersecurity and Cyberin -Religuence Chair Basec, key initiative that seeks to bring the professional practice of the cybersecurity sector to university students and researchers in related areas.
Among the public attending this day, there were students from different disciplines and specialized teachers with the clear objective of understanding how cyberinage is transforming digital security.
The session began with the intervention of the Director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI), Andrés Sáez Pérez, who valued the strategic role of collaborations between the public university and the private company, “and it is that this type of alliances not only enrich academic training, but also open new professional doors to future talents of the sector,” said the director of the ETSI in his intervention.
One of the most inspiring moments came from Fernando Ramos, CEO of Basec, who offered a paper on the role of intelligence throughout history, to current cyber attacks.
Thus, through real cases lived in the front line by the Baonesec team, it was shown how attacks can go far beyond digital. Among one of the most striking examples that was shared on this occasion was the filtration of an aircraft of a VIP profile, located in the Dark Web channels. Through a cyberinteligence analysis, the Baonesec team identified the origin of the incident, an internal escape due to a human error in travel management. This case evidenced how cyberinteligence allows to track, understand and contain threats even before they materialize.
This and other practical cases impacted both students and teachers, who discovered a new dimension of the cybersecurity sector.
On this day, Rafael Estepa, director of the Basec Cybersecurity and Cyberin -Religence Chair shared the first activities already underway in this 2024/2025 course. And he did it with a clear invitation to participate and take advantage of these opportunities.
Among the activities that have been launched we find the following:
Two research scholarships: these are aimed at students with interest in deepening the scope of applied cybersecurity. These scholarships will have a duration of 6 months to half -time and will allow the training of these students from researchers from the Department of Telematics Engineering and Basec professionals. The detail of both scholarships and the request of these can be found here.
Microcredial on the Darknet: This formation seeks to offer students deep and structured on the functioning of the main dark networks (Darknets), such as Tor, Freenet and I2P. All details and registration to the course are here.
The day closed with enthusiasm, curiosity and a round of questions that showed the general interest that awakens the cybersecurity sector among young people. The Basec cybersecurity and cyber -cyber -cyberintelligence chair is consolidated, as well as a meeting point between the public university and the private company, but, above all, as a launch platform for those who want to build a solid professional future in cybersecurity.
