Engineering and Music: ETSI members act in the emblematic Musikverein in Vienna

On July 6, the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville was represented in one of the most emblematic scenarios in the world: the Musikverein of Vienna, known for hosting the prestigious New Year's concert. Four members of the ETSI academic community participated in a musical tour of Austria as members of the Filarmonia orchestra of Seville .

Among them are Laura Garrido García , industrial and violinist engineer; Bernabé Alonso Fariñas , chemical engineer, clarinetist and ETSI teacher; Alejandro Luis Rabanal , trumpeter and student of the degree in electronic, robotic and mechatronics engineering of the ETSI; and Elena Estepa Pluled , violinist and new students in the degree in Engineering of ETSI Telecommunication Technologies.

The tour included three concerts in Austrian territory, consolidating the link between the academic and artistic talent of the ETSI and scenarios of international relevance.

Seville Filarmonony Orchestra

The Filarmonia orchestra of Seville is a musical entity whose objectives are the dissemination of symphonic and choral music and the promotion of young talent. Its artistic director is Francisco Javier Torres Simón.

Its headquarters is located in the auditorium of the Expo building on the island of La Cartuja (Seville). From there prepares the symphonic repertoire focused mainly on works that cover from romanticism to contemporary, through film music, as well as the scenic.

The OFS has interpreted great works such as Carmina Burena by Carl Orff, paintings of an exhibition of Modest Musorgski or the sorcerer love of Manuel de Falla, added to own production shows such as the procession of Francisco Javier Torres Simon or symphonic flamenco of Jerome Ireland.
