Shell form transformers electrical designer for R&D

Company

Join Hitachi Energy and be part of Hitachi Energy Technology team within business line Transformers. Business line transformers manufactures transformers, reactors and transformer components, including bushing, tap changers and insulation materials.

General information

As Shell form transformer electrical designer, you will join the Cordoba team of Technology Center South Europe, part of the global Technology organization of business unit Transformers, contributing to the successful roadmap execution defined for your team.

Your responsibilities
  • As shell form transformers electrical designer you will perform all the dielectric, magnetic, thermal and mechanical calculations needed for the dimensioning of the transformer according to the customers specification and standards requirements. The designs activities will be oriented mainly to R&D and design of special shell form transformers.
  • Prepare specifications, technical reports and related documents as required for the special shell form transformers manufacturing. 
  • Review and analyze a variety of technical specifications, Customer Specifications, standards & reports.
  • Prepare and analyze test results statistics oriented to improve design criteria or design rules.
  • Participate and give support in the investigation of technical issues in the factory and on site and the establishment of procedures & corrective actions.
  • Perform design platform testing before the release for production.
  • Propose and develop new technologies, products, and processes for shell form transformers.
  • Maintain existing and develop new technical standards and design tools for transformers.
  • Transfer your knowledge and findings by elaborating reports, specifications and/or participating in educational programs.
  • Assess production processes and proactively identify gaps and areas of improvement.

Your background
  • A Degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering. A master degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred.  
  • Previous work experience in electrical engineering either in the industry or in the university should be well considered. 
  • Experience with advance numerical simulations (eg magnetic or dielectric simulations), proficiency in use of commercial simulations tools (eg Ansys, Infolytica,) and implementation of own solutions shall be well valued.
  • Excellent abilities in teamwork in international teams with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Spirit of innovation, out of the box thinking.
  • A high level of self-motivation.

This position will enable you to become an accomplished engineer proficient in performing a wide range of tests on advanced composites materials and metals alloys among many others, and for a wide range of customers from different sectors.

 

As a member of the Materials Department (MT), you will have the chance to lead testing programs that will include from standard methods to bespoke tests and rigs.

You will work on testing to evaluate mechanical and physicochemical properties on composite and metallic materials as part of raw material Incoming Inspection, production Process Control or the Qualification of new materials or manufacturing processes.

 

The MT test Engineer provides technical and engineering leadership and interacts with customers on technical issues and questions, is accountable for the accurate and timely release of testing results to customers including sign-off of quality control data as acceptable and oversees standard and/or technical routine problem-solving activities.

 

Core responsibilities:

 

  • Ensures that safety and quality standards are being met and maintained at all times within the company's safety and QA programs

  • Support of project managers in questions of process and work optimization as well as in questions of cost-effectiveness in their respective fields of expertise

  • Assists in the engineering and coordination of projects from start to finish. Works to ensure quality, timeliness, consistency and accuracy of test reports.

  • Advising technicians on critical test executions

  • Perform the test procedure or test guideline for those standards for which there is no existing

  • Data processing of test results. 

  • Reporting, reviewing and authorizing results. Signing of test reports to be sent to the client.

  • Appropriate customer support for technical aspects in collaboration with the project manager.

  • Interfaces with client on a frequent basis for job initiation, job progress and general customer service.

  • Customer assistance in the event of a visit.

  • Close collaboration in projects during the sales process providing technical knowledge and in the creation of quotations and schedules.
