The University of Seville and Schneider Electric create a Chair to lead digitalization and industrial artificial intelligence

With the creation of this Chair, linked to the Higher Technical School of Engineering, the University integrates digitalization, artificial intelligence and automation in its teaching and research strategy, promoting sustainable industrial development.

The University of Seville has signed a collaboration agreement with Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, for the creation of the Schneider Electric Chair: Digitalization and industrial artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching, promoting the sustainable and energy transition through innovative solutions applied to the industrial sector.

The new chair will be directed by the professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Seville, Jesús Riquelme Santos, and will have the professor of the same department Juan Manuel Roldan Fernández as secretary. 

The chair seeks to build a bridge between the academic and business worlds to face the challenges posed by digital transformation and the energy transition in the industry. Among its main lines of action are: promoting the sustainable and energy transition, exploring new technologies and digitalization and artificial intelligence strategies applied to the industry; and the promotion of a business culture in young university students, through training in key aspects such as organization, values ​​and corporate culture from a multidisciplinary approach. In addition, the chair will promote high-impact academic research on topics such as the digital transformation of the management and automation of electrical energy, the integration of renewable and sustainable energies, the study of new technologies and trends and the application of IT solutions. Information and Communications (ICT).

A reference space for digital transformation

The Schneider Electric Chair: Digitalization and industrial artificial intelligence aspires to consolidate itself as a reference in the training of key technical and business skills for the future of the industry. Its headquarters will be located at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville, an ideal academic environment for the development of joint research and training activities.

In addition, this project will foster specialized talent, facilitating meetings between students, academics and professionals in the sector, and promoting research and development initiatives that address industry challenges.
