A scientific article from the ETSi obtains the award from the Nonlinear Analysis Magazine: Hybrid Systems

Publication date

Professors Carolina Albea and Alexandre Seuret , assigned to the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville, have obtained the International Award for Best Article from the Magazine “Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems” from Elsevier with impact factor 5.477, for the work titled “Time-triggered and event-triggered control of switched affine
systems via a hybrid dynamical approach”.

International Award for Best Article from the Nonlinear Analysis Magazine: Hybrid Systems by Elsevier

This article presents theoretical results that can be used for the efficient use of power converters that are present in most electronic devices, such as mobile phones, chargers, computers, vehicles, etc. A quantitative improvement in the efficiency of this type of devices has a positive impact on the reduction of energy consumption.

This article presents two control signal design methodologies for affine switched systems: one sampled with periodic time intervals and the other sampled by events, using a hybrid dynamic systems approach.
The particularity of event sampling is that such sampling is only allowed when a specific event is detected. The novelties of this article are: the hybrid dynamic representation of this class of systems; the design of minimum projection control laws with free matrices, which relax the usual minimum projection control structure, generally based on the Lyapunov matrix; and finally, the formulation of a stabilization result that guarantees that an attractor, defined as a neighborhood of the desired operating point, is uniformly, globally and asymptotically stable with both control laws.

On July 14, the presentation of this international award will take place in Yokohama, Japan at the closing ceremony of the “IFAC World Conference”, where the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) will present its most relevant triannual awards, how This award.
