Important companies such as BAE Systems, Vodafone or Telefónica, among others, join the highest governing body of the Technology Center
The Association for Research and Industrial Cooperation of Andalusia (AICIA) held its Ordinary General Assembly today, in which it welcomed the directors of the new companies that have joined as members. Important entities such as: BAE Systems, Telefónica, Macpuarsa, Vodafone, Aertec, Círculo de Empresarios de Cartuja and Premo Group become part of the highest governing body of the Technology Center, located in the Higher Technical School of Engineering, and Premo Group, thus joining CEPSA, Airbus, Endesa, Atlantic Cooper, REE, etc. who have been part of the council for years.
AICIA's close relationship with the main companies in the industrial sector, both national and international, guarantee a track record of success in the field of knowledge transfer, as well as a fundamental synergy for the economic, scientific and technological development of the region.
Next, with the new members, the Extraordinary General Assembly took place, whose main point of the day was the renewal of the position of Managing Director, which fell to the Professor of Industrial Organization of the University of Seville, Jesús Muñuzuri Sanz .
Muñuzuri Sanz is an Industrial Engineer and has a doctorate in the same field from the University of Seville, as well as a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wales Swansea. In 2016 he joined the body of professors at the University of Seville, being named University Professor assigned to the Department of Industrial Organization and Business Management II of the Higher Technical School of Engineering .
Member of the AICIA Organizational Engineering Team, he has been responsible for 20 research projects, participating as a researcher in another 75 R&D&I projects. His main lines of research focus on the Logistics sector: freight transport, intermodal transport, last mile delivery, etc.
Among its most notable projects is Tecnoport 2025, on the optimization of intermodal container transport in the logistics node of the Port of Seville, as well as Planning Systems for Pipeline Renewals of EMASESA's Supply and Sanitation Networks.
Jesús Muñuzuri Sanz replaces Francisco Jiménez-Espadafor Aguilar, who has headed AICIA since he was appointed at the Extraordinary General Assembly held in June 2017.

The members of the General Assembly have also learned, during the course of these meetings, the main figures and economic results of the Technology Center for the 2022 financial year.
During this period, the Andalusian Industrial Research and Cooperation Association (AICIA) highlights more than 6,700,000 euros in income, almost 11% more than in the year 2021. As well as 101 research projects, studies and consultancies initiated in this period. It is important to note that the commitment to the internationalization of the Center has been bearing fruit for years, as demonstrated by the 28 international projects currently being developed by the various AICIA research teams.
The sectors with the greatest activity are aeronautics, energy and ICTs, which account for more than 90% of the Technology Center's total income.
With more than 170 engineers hired and a staff of more than 200 employees, AICIA continues to be one of the main Technology Centers in Spain.

The Andalusian Industrial Research and Cooperation Association was born in 1982 from the initiative of a group of professors from the then Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of Seville (Etsii), aware, on the one hand, of the need for the teaching staff of this type of centers would experience the reality of industrial companies for a better transmission of the same to their students and, on the other hand, the human potential and the capacity to provide services to industry and society concentrated in the ETSI.
Aicia is recognized as an Innovation and Technology Center by both the Junta de Andalucía and the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The application sectors of its R&D&I activity focus on all areas of Industrial, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering.
