Teachers and students of the ETSi participate in talks in institutes for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science , teachers and students of the ETSi participated in talks and round tables in different educational centers.
At the Fernando de Herrera Institute, they organized a round table on the importance of technological careers and the need to promote female participation in this area of work, with concrete examples of the professional careers of senior researchers and young women completing their academic studies.
Emilia Martín , a graduate in Industrial Technology Engineering and studying the Double Master in Industrial Engineering and Electronic, Robotics and Automatic Engineering, participated on behalf of the ETSi Rosario Villegas , a DIQA . Students from 3rd and 4th year of ESO and 1st year of high school attended.
At the Albert Einstein Institute, a conference and a subsequent colloquium were given to 3rd and 4th ESO students, as well as Higher Vocational Training students in the Health and Environmental branch. Alicia Ronda and Rosario Villegas , both from DIQA , collaborated in this talk .
February 11th. International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Gender equality has always been a central theme of the United Nations . Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will contribute decisively not only to the world's economic development, but also to progress against all the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development .
On 14 March 2011, the Commission on the Status of Women adopted the report at its fifty-fifth session, with agreed conclusions on access to and participation of women and girls in education, training and science and technology, including the promotion of women's equal access to full employment and decent work.
On December 20, 2013, the General Assembly adopted the resolution on science, technology and innovation for development, recognizing that full and equal access to and participation in science, technology and innovation Innovation for women and girls of all ages were essential to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The General Assembly declared February 11 International Day of Women and Girls in Science in recognition of the key role women play in the scientific and technological community. In its resolution of December 22, 2015, the United Nations body where all Member States are represented approved a resolution in which it justified the proclamation of this International Day and praised the initiatives carried out by the United Nations Organization. for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) , the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) , the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other relevant organizations to support women scientists and promote access of women and girls to education, training and research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
