The COHESION project, developed at HEINEKEN SPAIN with the collaboration of a research group from the ETSi, awarded at the CEL 2022 awards
Last Thursday, December 15, the CEL 2022 awards were presented in Madrid, organized by the Spanish Logistics Center. The COHESION project (Customer Orders in HEineken Spain: Improvement and OptimizatioN), developed at HEINEKEN Spain, has been awarded as a finalist in the Logistics Excellence category. They are the most important awards at the national level on Supply Chain.
The PAIDI research group of the ETSi has collaborated in the COHESION project.
The COHESION project has been developed and implemented in the company's Customer Service department, in collaboration with the PAIDI “Industrial Organization” TEP-134 research group of the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi). The project consisted of redesigning the order management process, implementing a new way of working for members of the Customer Service department. This new way of working has included the use of an Artificial Intelligence system that dynamically manages customer orders taking into account the inventory levels of all HEINEKEN SPAIN centers/warehouses, as well as their locations in relation to with the customer, and other restrictions specific to the context such as the freshness of the product, or the forecast of future demand. The software tool implements mathematical models that allow the optimal allocation of inventories to orders, maximizing both the number of orders fulfilled and the level of customer service. Artificial Intelligence is capable of making an estimate of future demand that allows inventory to be distributed based on established criteria, avoiding unwanted stock breaks or inventory transfers between centers (minimizing additional CO2 emissions).
The Spanish Logistics Center has been granting the CEL awards since 2005. This national and international reference association for supply chain management in Spain focuses its activity on providing value to its partners through knowledge and innovation in management. Logistics
