The USRacing motorcycle team celebrates its 15th Anniversary

The US motorcycle team took advantage of the event to announce its new name: eUSRacing

The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville has hosted the celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the USRacing motorcycle team. With a history marked by the evolution from combustion to electric motorcycles, the event has not only commemorated the team's achievements over these 15 years, but also marks a significant milestone with a name change and rebranding: from USRacing to eUSRacing.

This change in the team's nomenclature makes, on the one hand, a nod to the connection that they have had with the field of engineering since their beginnings, since the team was born in 2009 with a group of ETSi students. The incorporation of the "and" In this new definition, it pays tribute to those beginnings and strongly links them with the cardinal knowledge to be developed in a project of this type.

The “US” It represents the transversality of this team, which, after those first steps, considered it essential to expand the disciplines that made up the project, in order to aspire to higher objectives. In this way, the team integrated students from many other Centers of the University of Seville, such as the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, Business, the School of Computer Engineering or the Higher Polytechnic, among others.

Finally, they retain in their nomenclature the word that gives meaning to this project: Racing. This continues to represent the mission and competitive spirit that drives the team to improve year after year.

The event, which was chaired by Carmen Gallardo Cruz, vice-rector of Students at the University of Seville, was also attended by Silvia del Pozo Sánchez, deputy mayor and delegate of the Sports and Health Promotion Area of the Seville City Council; Andrés Sáez Pérez, director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the US: Sergio Esteban Roncero, delegate of the rector for the Promotion of Technological Transfer in Teaching Innovation of the US; and Paula Saucedo Rodríguez, Team Leader of the US eUSRacing Team. Likewise, numerous members who have been part of the team over the 15 seasons attended the event, as well as all the ETSi teachers who have acted as tutors.

Since its founding in 2009, the motorcycle team eUSRacing from the University of Seville has established itself as a reference in the university field, combining engineering, innovation and competition in the exciting world of motorcycling.

The team participates in the international MotoStudent championship, a competition that brings together universities from all over the world at the MotorLand Aragón circuit, where students apply their theoretical knowledge in a real project of high technical demand.

Beyond designing and manufacturing a motorcycle, USRacing seeks to train the engineers of the future. Students not only work on the technical development of the motorcycle, but must also manage the financing of the project, seeking sponsors and collaborating with public and private companies and institutions.

This unique combination of technical and business challenges has a clear purpose: to provide team members with a training experience that transcends the classroom, preparing them for the challenges of the world of work.

Throughout these years, USRacing has evolved significantly. What began as a project focused on internal combustion motorcycles has taken a turn towards sustainability with the implementation of an electric prototype in the latest editions of MotoStudent. This change reflects the team's commitment to innovation and new technological trends in the automotive sector.

The team has more than 40 students who are integrated into different work areas. This multidisciplinarity guarantees the success of the team not only in the competition itself, but in other areas that are essential to achieve the set objectives. In this way, the students live and integrate the experience that teamwork is the sum of each and every one of the functions and people that make up the team, and that the results will be the product of this well-meshed and strongly linked mechanism. wrought.
