SEASON 23/24 OF THE JOINT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA UNIVERSITY OF SEVILLA- CSM MANUEL CASTILLO
SEASON XIII. COURSE 23/2 4
JOINT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA UNIVERSITY OF SEVILLA- CSM MANUEL CASTILLO
If there is a symphony orchestra in the city of Seville that stands out for its solid academic and artistic career, for the youth of its members in continuous training and replacement, and for the development of a varied and consolidated concert season that unfolds throughout a wide palette of musical styles and genres, the image of our CSO automatically emerges in our imagination, an orchestra committed to current times, dedicated to the city and for the city, with an enthusiastic vocation since it was founded in 2011 by the University of Seville and CSM Manuel Castillo.
The OSC will be deployed throughout this XIII Season in the different formats accustomed in these last seasons, that is, mainly in traditional symphonic and chamber formation, but also giving prominence in some of its meetings to the wind and percussion sections. .
The spaces of the University of Seville will once again be protagonists, both the auditorium of the ETS of Engineering on the Cartuja Campus and that of the ETS of Architecture on the Reina Mercedes campus. To these stages, the Manuel García Hall of the Maestranza Theater, Patio of the CSM Manuel Castillo and, as new features for the OSC, the Central Theater on the Isla de la Cartuja and the assembly hall of the City of Knowledge in Dos Hermanas, thus expanding the scope of the orchestra's performance beyond the city of Seville itself.
The repertoire that the orchestra will address follows the line that it has been deploying since its foundation, with a program that, in addition to comprising a classical repertoire known to the general public, will also reveal its commitment to the most current music in the repertoire, with the interpretation of works by composers of the 20th century such as Gerschwin, Ligeti, whose birth is centenary.
With a total of eight meetings, this XIII Season of Concerts of the OSC begins and culminates in its usual headquarters, in the ETS of Engineering located on the Campus of La Cartuja, this year being our orchestra that will star in the traditional Closing Concert of Course 2023/24 of the University of Seville on a day as important for music in Europe as June 21, Music Day.
