The Higher Technical School of Engineering celebrates the first edition of ETSiDay

The nearly 7,000 members of the ETSi academic community enjoyed a wide range of activities aimed at fostering coexistence and strengthening personal relationships.

The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville celebrated ETSiDay on March 5th, for the first time in its more than 50 years of history, a day in which its academic community was able to enjoy a wide program of activities that covered academic, work, recreational, as well as sports or cultural aspects.

ETSiDay began at 9:30 a.m. with an official opening by the School's director, Andrés Sáez Pérez, and was attended by the ETSi's Deputy Director of Students, Carmen Hernández Mancera, as well as representatives from the Student Delegation, the Alumni Association, the Cultural Center, and all the student associations of the Center, who have been part of its organization.

The main objective of this day of meeting between students, professors and researchers, graduates, companies in the sector and staff from the different services of the School, is to promote coexistence and enjoyment, beyond the ordinary development of the academic calendar, among members of a community of almost 7000 people.

To this end, the day began with the celebration of two round tables, aimed mainly at the students of the ETSi, in which graduates of different degrees from the Center, transmitted to the attending public their experiences in the world of work and entrepreneurship.

The first of these, entitled “Relevant career paths: What future awaits you after ETSi?The event featured presentations by Dulce Muñoz, a telecommunications engineer and VP head of the A400M Development Program; Antonio Zafra, an industrial engineer and Public Affairs, Sustainability and Infrastructure director at AERTEC Solution; María Díaz, a chemical engineer and contracts manager at Nextracker Inc.; and Pablo Castillo, a civil engineer and technical director at Inhisa Hidráulica SA. Students and the public learned firsthand about the career paths of these ETSi alumni, tracing their journeys to leading teams and projects in major industrial companies.

Following the conclusion of this first round table, a second one took place, entitled “Graduates tell us about their entrepreneurial experiences,” The event featured Francisco Gamero and Pablo García, co-founders and engineering manager of Pleeda Solutions SL; Carlos Rodríguez, CEO and co-founder of Solum; Gerardo Peña, founding partner of Sophisticatus; and José Antonio Pérez, CEO and co-founder of Cover Manager, who presented their business models as an example of entrepreneurship and as a job alternative for future graduates of the ETSi.

In addition, ETSiDay participants were able to access staff from the various company chairs present at the School (Endesa, Inerco, Airbus, MP, PRL, Moeve, Alter Technology, EMASESA, Hitachi, Schneider, BeOneSec, Indra, etc.) who, from different stands, offered information about their activity and the academic and employment opportunities available to students.

In addition, the day had a distinctly fun character, with a wide program of cultural and sporting activities, gymkhanas, demonstrations and games organized by associations such as ARUS, ESIBOT, VANTUS, EUROAVIA, COHETEROS, ESTIEM, eUSRACING, as well as karaoke and live music.

The ETSi Management, together with the Student Delegation and the rest of the Associations and Culture and Sports Classrooms, has embarked on the celebration of this day with the firm conviction that all the relationships that are strengthened in a playful, relaxed and festive way, will have their reward in a better coexistence and a better development of the teaching and research activities that are the basis and the driving principle of a Center like the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville.
