Three graduates of the ETSI awarded at the Awards for Excellence in Telecommunication Engineering
Three ETSI graduates of the University of Seville awarded the Excellence Awards in Telecommunication Engineering
The XLV Edition of the Excellence Awards in Telecommunication Engineering , granted by the Official College and the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers (COIT-AEIT), has recognized the talent of three representatives of the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville in its main categories.
He CBNK Award for Best Work End of Master in Cybersecurity Applied to Companies, has fallen to the student of the University Master in Telecommunication Engineering of the ETSI, Roberto Lama Rodríguez, for your work "Industrial Cybersecurity Director Plan: Application to an electrical substation", Directed by the Professor of Electronic Engineering at the University of Seville, Alejandro Carballar Rincón. This project addresses cybersecurity in industrial environments, with special attention to electrical substations. From the analysis of a real installation, a cybersecurity principal plan is developed through the study of the current state, risk analysis and the proposal of mitigation measures. Likewise, solutions such as IDS and SIEMs are evaluated, and a simulated environment is implemented where attacks based on the Miter Att & CK matrix are launched to validate the designed security architecture. The work feels the basis for a robust framework for critical infrastructure protection.
Likewise, Manuel Jerez González, student of the same master as his award -winning partner and also under the protection of Professor Carballar, has been awarded the COTI-AEIT Award for the best job end of Master in Basic Fundamentals and Technologies of Information and Communications, and its applications for your project "Fiber optic sensors for radiometry measures in concentration solar energy applications (CSP)". This work presents the development of a radiometer based on optical and photodetector capable of measuring solar irradiance and concentrated flow in solar facilities. The device stands out for its high sensitivity, rapid response, low cost and modular design, and has been validated in various conditions, including solar simulators, showing its potential as an efficient alternative to commercial equipment.
In the category of Best Academic Trajectory in Telecommunication Engineering, the Huawei Prize has fallen to Enrique Sánchez Cardoso, also from the University of Seville, in recognition of its academic excellence throughout its training tour. Natural of Mairena del Alcor (Sevilla), completed his studies at the CEIP San Bartolomé, the IES María Immaculada and the IES Los Alcores, where he was recognized with Honor registration. Subsequently, he attended the degree and master in Telecommunication Engineering at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville, obtaining in both the Extraordinary End of Studies Award. His constant motivation for technology and learning has been recognized nationally for his impeccable academic file.
In this XLV edition of the Excellence Awards in Telecommunication Engineering, the COIT-AEIT has granted a total of twelve awards in its three main categories, recognizing great impact works in areas such as cybersecurity, sustainability, satellite communications, artificial intelligence and engineering focused on the person. Award -winning universities come from the entire Spanish geography, which highlights the high formative and researcher at the national level. The University of Seville has been one of the most recognized institutions in this call, with distinctions in each of the main categories, which reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, technological innovation and the training of highly qualified professionals in the field of telecommunication engineering.
In total, awards have been awarded in the categories of Best Doctoral Thesis, Best Work End of Master and Best Academic Trajectory, recognizing the research and academic work of students throughout Spain. This edition has had the collaboration of entities such as CBNK, Mutuality of Engineering, Hispasat, Hispasat, Huawei, In-Nova, Isdefe, Royal Academy of Engineering and Reintel.
The awards highlight innovation, effort and transformative potential of young talent in the field of telecommunication engineering, a key sector for technological and social development.
