The School of Engineering leads the University of Seville's presence in the Stanford world rankings.

More than 25% of the researchers recognized by this prestigious ranking are attached to departments of the ETSi

A total of 164 professors and researchers from the University of Seville (US) appear in the eighth edition of the prestigious international ranking "World's Top 2% Scientists List ," prepared by Stanford University (USA) and published by Elsevier. This result represents a significant increase compared to the 143 representatives from the previous edition and consolidates the US's leadership in scientific production and international impact.

Among the best-positioned researchers are numerous professors from the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi) , which once again ranks as one of the most represented and recognized centers on the list.

The most notable professors are Alfonso Miguel Gañán-Calvo , from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics, who is among the top 100 in the world in the area of “Fluids & Plasmas” (ranked 92 out of 55,132 researchers), as well as Professor Sebastián Lozano Segura , from the Department of Industrial Organization and Business Management I, in “Operations Research” (ranked 95 out of 30,698 researchers). Likewise, Professor José L. Escalona Franco , from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing, who occupies the first national position in “Design Practice & Management” .

Likewise, Professor Alexandre Seuret , from the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation, also reaches the national first position in “Industrial Engineering & Automation” , while Professors Sergio Vázquez, Leopoldo García Franquelo and José I. León , from the Department of Electronic Engineering, head the national list in “Electrical & Electronic Engineering” .

These results place ETSi as a national benchmark in multiple branches of engineering , from automation and aerospace to electronics, industrial design, and process optimization.

In the ranking as a whole, the University of Seville has 126 researchers on the annual impact list (LS) —11 of them from affiliated research centers—and 108 on the career impact list (LC) , with 19 researchers from associated centers. In addition to the increase in participants, researchers from the University of Seville occupy more prominent positions than in previous editions.

The selected professors and researchers work in 15 of the 20 scientific areas analyzed and in 49 of the 174 research sub-areas, reflecting the University's high level and multidisciplinary approach . The most represented areas are Engineering (26 researchers), Clinical Medicine (24), and Chemistry (13).

In the career impact list (LC), the top five positions at the US correspond to Andrés Aguilera (Genetics), Manuel Romero Gómez (Medicine–IBIS-US), Alfonso M. Gañán-Calvo (Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics), Miguel López Lázaro (Pharmacology) and Adán Cabello Quintero (Applied Physics II).
In the annual list (LS), the US representation is headed by Francisco Liñán Alcalde (Applied Economics I), followed by Pedro Jordano Barbudo , Manuel Romero Gómez , Alexandre Seuret , Alfonso M. Gañán-Calvo and Miguel López Lázaro .

At the international level, four professors with links to ETSi are among the top 100 in the world in their respective fields: Miguel López-Lázaro (Pharmacology) in “Medicinal & Biomolecular Chemistry” (68 out of 112,089 researchers), Manuel Romero Gómez (Medicine) in “Gastroenterology & Hepatology” (88 out of 108,265), Alfonso Miguel Gañán-Calvo (Aerospace Engineering and Fluid Mechanics) in “Fluids & Plasmas” (92 out of 55,132), and Sebastián Lozano (Industrial Engineering and Business Management) in “Operations Research” (95 out of 30,698).

Likewise, a total of five US researchers occupy the top positions nationally in their fields and 31 are positioned as leaders at the Andalusian level , reflecting the institution's high impact and scientific leadership.

The ranking, which evaluates the impact of more than 200,000 scientists from around the world using data from the Scopus , distinguishes scientific impact both annually and throughout a professional career , considering indicators such as the number of publications, citations received and a composite productivity index.

With these results, the School of Engineering reaffirms its position as a national and international center of research , contributing decisively to the scientific and technological excellence of the University of Seville.
