The University of Seville launches a new Chair with the multinational Hitachi Energy
The University of Seville and Hitachi Energy have taken a significant step in their collaboration by signing an agreement to create the Hitachi Energy Chair, which will be based at the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI). This chair will become a benchmark of excellence for promoting knowledge transfer and innovation between academia and industry.
Hitachi's close ties with the ETSI (School of Industrial Engineering) have led to the development of several R&D projects by the Mechanical Engineering group at the University of Seville. These projects focus on characterizing different parts of high-power transformers, including simulations and models of their behavior, instrumentation, and more. The establishment of this new chair aims to strengthen and formalize these types of projects, as well as to solidify and strengthen the company's relationship with engineering students.
Under this new agreement, students will have access to conference programs, sessions, and congresses, as well as the opportunity to complete their undergraduate and master's theses related to Hitachi Energy's activities. Another key aspect strengthened by this partnership is the availability of scholarships and internships in various areas of the company. The degree programs that will benefit most from this agreement are those related to Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, and Energy Engineering
Joint work in R&D
The signing of this agreement marks a long-standing collaboration between Hitachi Energy and the University of Seville. Both institutions have been working together in the areas of Engineering and R&D through Hitachi Energy's transformer factory in Córdoba.
Francisco Bolaños Valverde, director of the Hitachi Energy plant in Córdoba; Marta Muñoz Ruiz, Technology Center manager at SEU; Miguel Aguirre Giménez, representing Hitachi; and José María Maza Ortega, professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Seville, were the key figures in the inaugural meeting of the chair. Following this meeting, Professors Carlos Navarro Pintado and Jesús Vázquez Valeo as director and secretary of the chair, respectively. The Hitachi Energy executives visited the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville, accompanied by its director, Andrés Sáez Pérez.
