The University of Seville's Rocketry Team presented NAOS EVO, its new aerospace engineering project, on Tuesday, October 13th. The rocket, developed over the past year, was unveiled at the event held in the University of Seville's Rectorate Courtyard, where the complete rocket was displayed on its launch pad.

The project incorporates technological improvements in various areas, from intelligent flight systems to vehicle propulsion and recovery. This evolution aims to reach an altitude of three kilometers as one of the objectives of this first stage.

One of the key advancements is the intelligence and telemetry system, designed to recognize the different phases of flight using a state machine. The rocket also incorporates aerodynamic improvements in the fin design and a newly developed parachute ejection and recovery system, conceived to offer a compact and safe solution.

In terms of propulsion, the team uses a propellant developed and tested by its own members. The design also includes the ability to carry a one-kilogram payload, adding a functional component to the technological development. Another innovation of the NAOS EVO is the incorporation of an airbrake system designed and validated by the team. This mechanism activates intelligently when the rocket exceeds the target altitude, generating aerodynamic drag and controlling its trajectory to get as close as possible to the intended height.

The presentation showcased the multidisciplinary work carried out by the university association and highlighted some of the project's components and tools. The event included an overview of the team's history, the progress achieved over the past year, and its future lines of work, as well as an opportunity for interaction with the attendees.

With the NAOS EVO, the Rocketry Team of the University of Seville continues to advance in the development of its own aerospace engineering solutions, combining design, experimentation and technological validation.

The Rocketmen's Association, founded in 2023 at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville, is an initiative focused on rocket experimentation. The association has evolved into a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and launch of experimental rockets. Among its projects, Betelgeuse and NAOS stand out, the latter continuing its technological evolution with the NAOS EVO. The association is also working on the development of an experimental launcher with a target range of ten kilometers.
