VANTUS AeroDesign Team strengthens ties with the Air Force and Space Force during an institutional visit to the Tablada Barracks
The visit marked a significant step for VANTUS in its objective to strengthen ties with leading entities in the aeronautical sector and explore new avenues for technical, training, and institutional collaboration. The meeting provided an opportunity to showcase the work carried out by the association, which focuses on the design, construction, and operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) according to the standards of the professional aeronautical industry.
The university delegation was headed by Ángel Luis Trigo García, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship at the University of Seville; Sergio Esteban Roncero, Deputy Director of Teaching Innovation and University Extension at the Higher Technical School of Engineering; Gloria Huertas Sánchez, Professor at the University of Seville; Paula Terrón González, Director of VANTUS AeroDesign Team; and Gonzalo Collado Mateos, Technical Director of the association.
On behalf of the Air Force and Space, the delegation was received by Rafael Fernández-Shaw Domínguez, Brigadier General and Chief of the Logistics Division of the Air Force and Space Staff; Juan Fernández López, Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force and Space; and Rafael José Guerrero Aparicio, Captain (OF-2) of the ACAR Tablada Group.
During the meeting, both institutions shared ideas on potential areas of collaboration focused on technological development, innovation, and practical training for students. Among the initiatives discussed, the possibility of presenting the new VANTUS prototype at the Tablada Barracks stood out, a proposal that was well received by the military representatives.
The ETSi's participation in this visit highlights its leadership's commitment to promoting student associations as spaces for learning, innovation, and connection with the professional world. Through initiatives like this, the School encourages students to complement their academic training with real-world experiences and collaborations of high strategic value for their professional development.
The newly created Plus Ultra Chair is thus consolidated as a bridge between the university and the Air and Space Force, promoting the exchange of knowledge and bringing future aeronautical engineers closer to the operational and technological reality of the sector.
