The largest student conference in Europe begins at the ETSI

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) celebrates at the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville the third edition of the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) , the largest student-led conference in Europe. From April 4 to 7, 2024, the Erasmus Generation will fill the streets of Seville to create new spaces for dialogue and redefine the future of education and international mobility.

The opening and closing events will be held at FIBES, but the central stage for the rest of the activities is the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville. More than 200 dynamic sessions with more than 180 speakers are testament to the EGM's commitment to fostering inclusion, combating discrimination and nurturing active citizenship.

Among the attendees who are landing in the city these days are personalities such as Margaritis Schinas , vice president of the European Commission; Sira Rego , Minister of Youth and Children; Jaume Duch Guillot , spokesperson for the European Parliament and general director of Communication of the Institution; and Juan Cruz Cigudosa , Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Universities.

The University of Seville and Ulysseus , the European university coordinated by the US and made up of seven other higher education institutions from as many countries, will have their own exhibitor at the EGM Expo , which will be held on Friday morning at the ETS Engineering. In addition, the academic director of Ulysseus, Rocío Martínez de Pablos , participates in a round table dedicated to European universities. And the US professor Marycruz Arcos Vargas will give a presentation in the session 'If you think something does not affect you, it does not encourage you to participate'

This year's edition revolves around the theme "Eliminating barriers to active and equal participation . This event brings together more than 1,600 participants from all over the European continent to establish debates, exchange ideas and forge paths towards equal participation and improvement of international experiences.

The event also features a series of parallel activities with dance and music performances, a flag parade, a large catalog of plenary sessions, interactive workshops and the bustling innovation center known as the EGM Expo that will bring together students, universities, institutions and companies.

The US as an Erasmus destination

During the morning of Saturday, April 6, participants in the EGM, together with an external jury, will be able to witness and participate in the election of the Erasmus Destination of the Year 2024 , a title that is currently being pursued by five finalists: Istanbul (Turkey), Nicosia ( Cyprus), Porto (Portugal), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Seville . The winning city will be announced during the closing ceremony on Sunday.

The University of Seville receives numerous students every year in international mobility programs, among which Erasmus+ is the one that contributes the most students. alone, 2,113 international students have arrived at the US through these mobility programs.

Italy, Germany and France are the countries that send the largest number of students to the US . By centers, the Faculty of Philology , the Higher Technical School of Architecture , the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences , the Faculty of Psychology and the Higher Technical School of Engineering are the ones that receive the most international students.
