The ETSi celebrates the First Edition of the Bridges Competition

 
On March 22, the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville 1st Bridge Competition , an activity aimed at students of the Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and the Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, in which they have to design and build a bridge and subject it to a load test.
 
In this first edition, six teams participated, made up of four students each. The assembly phase takes place the two days prior to the competition phase, and takes place in the ETSi Structures Laboratory. The competition is based on the design and construction of a bridge, with all teams having the same equipment. After these first steps, the structure is subjected to a load test until it breaks.  
 
The winning team of this edition was made up of students Tomás de la Hera de Oya, Iñaki Ugarte Márquez, Mª Antonia Gutiérrez Alvear and Luis Ramos Justo, designers of a bridge whose structure fractured when subjected to a 547 kilogram load test. . 
They will be in charge of representing the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville in the National Phase of the Bridge Competition, which will be organized by the University of Cantabria and will take place on April 20 in Santander.
