The Call for the 16th Manuel Gayán Buiza Prize is open
The call for the XVI Manuel Gayán Buiza Prize is open.
The Manuel Gayán Buiza award aims to encourage and promote
engineering studies, as well as research projects or doctorates related to engineering or
applied mathematics. This award was created by the relatives of Professor Manuel Gayán Buiza
in 2008, 10 years after his death, to keep his memory alive.
Mr. Manuel Gayán Buiza, PhD in Forestry Engineering, was a professor of Algebra and Calculus at the School
of Engineers of Seville for more than 30 years, also occasionally teaching other
subjects in the Applied Mathematics department. He completed his bachelor's and
doctoral studies at the School of Forestry Engineers in Madrid, during which time he played as an
amateur soccer player in AD Plus Ultra, one of Real Madrid's subsidiary teams. In addition, he was Head
of the Economic Affairs Section of the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation, farmer,
and businessman.
