Mechanobiology; A view of clinical problems addressed by engineers
Mechanobiology
Summer course
Location: Santa María de le Rábida, Huelva
Date: July 24 to 27, 2023
Registration fee: 60 euros
The summer course on Mechanobiology develops some elements of the mechanical engineering methodology applied to clinical problems. The vision of these problems will be focused from both the clinical and engineering points of view, through the professors of the engineering and medical profile course. Throughout the teaching program, it will be possible to conclude how beneficial and synergistic such different visions of the same clinical problem are, providing unimaginable results from multidisciplinary collaboration between engineers and doctors. The direction of the course will be carried out by Dr. José Antonio Sanz Herrera from the ETSi

What is Mechabobiology?
Mechanobiology discipline that arises as a result of research by engineers into clinical and biological problems. Thus, for example, fundamental processes such as the repair of bone fractures, the deformation of the heart when it beats or respiratory flow, can be studied under the methodology of mechanical engineering. This insight into these problems has provided surprising results, demonstrating that many functions and responses of the human body depend largely on mechanical factors, both in healthy and disease conditions.
