Opportunities and challenges for technological development in aeronautics and space

The aerospace sector faces major challenges, several of them due to the fact that it is directly affected by the two main transformations around which much of European policy is structured: energy and digital.

This includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions (mostly from commercial aviation), maintaining Spain's capacity to design and integrate large, complete aircraft, developing UAS and their applications, improving competitiveness in space, commercially utilizing space, and digitally transforming manufacturing environments. R&D&I will be essential to overcoming these challenges.

This situation entails a series of risks for our sector, but, on the other hand, if through innovation we are able to respond to these challenges we can take advantage of it and strengthen our position.

The conference will focus on the challenges we face and the technological priorities that need to be developed to capitalize on these opportunities; the role that the PAE can play in this endeavor. Finally, the activities planned for 2023 will be presented

Spanish Aerospace Platform (PAE)

The Spanish Aerospace Technology Platform (PAE) has the following main objectives:

  • A forum for discussion on aerospace R&D&I : the more and better members it has, the stronger it will be. The meeting should foster collaboration on ideas, proposals, and projects.

  • A place to define a Strategic Agenda for Spanish Aerospace Research.

  • technological surveillance and forecasting

  • aerospace R&D forums
