The University of Seville among the top 500 internationally
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), better known as the Shanghai Ranking, has once again placed the University of Seville among the top 500 universities worldwide. Specifically, in 2024, the University of Seville ranked 485th.
The Shanghai Ranking is one of the leading international university rankings, which measures, among other parameters, the quality of research developed as well as the assessment of the different branches of knowledge and disciplines taught, these being key to the fact that the US has maintained its position, even climbing positions compared to previous editions.
In Spain, only 10 universities are in the Top 500, with the University of Seville (US) being tenth. In Andalusia, only Granada and Seville are among the top ten in Spain, according to this ranking.
In this edition, as usual, various disciplines taught at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville have stood out in the ranking, which is carried out in detail by area of knowledge. The highest-ranked in the field of engineering are Automation and Control and Civil Engineering, which is included in this ranking for the first time. Both are positioned in the 101-150 range globally, with Automation and Control holding the top spot nationally.
In the next range of positions, 151-200, Mathematics, taught among other centers of the University of Seville in the ETSi, as well as the positioning of Mechanical Engineering in 5th place at the national level.
These excellent results strengthen both the University of Seville internationally and the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville itself, where more than 6,000 students are trained, who are also highly demanded by industry and society.
