The ETSI reinforces its leadership in transfer and innovation at Transfiere 2026
The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville has participated in Transfiere 2026 , the main European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, which held its 15th edition in Malaga from February 24 to 26.
The presence of the ETSi at this strategic meeting reflects the institutional commitment of the Vice-Rectorate for Knowledge Transfer of the University of Seville, headed by Vice-Rector Ángel Trigo , to promote the active participation of the School in a forum fully aligned with its mission: to promote technology transfer, collaboration with the productive sector and the generation of innovative solutions aimed at major social and environmental challenges.
The Andalusian Regional Government hosted the round table discussion “Andalusia Knowledge – Universities Driving the Green Transition: Success Stories in Knowledge Transfer, Energy, and Sustainability.” The event brought together experts from the Andalusian university system to present initiatives focused on sustainable resource management, digitalization, and climate resilience.
The University of Seville was represented by Ramón González Carvajal, Professor of Electronic Engineering and Director of the EMASESA Water Chair. His presentation focused on the strategic value of data in water management, both in the integrated water cycle and within the Public Water Domain. He presented the Guadalquivir 4.0 and the development of tools for a Digital Twin of the basin, emphasizing how the integration of IoT technologies, artificial intelligence, and remote sensing allows for improved territorial monitoring and the anticipation of future scenarios. This approach facilitates the transition from reactive management models to predictive and proactive strategies.
The panel, moderated by Pilar Velázquez Moreno, from the Communication Department of the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville, also included the participation of José Damián Ruiz Sinoga (University of Málaga), who addressed the sustainable management of subtropical fruit trees in contexts of water scarcity; Clemente Navarro Yáñez (Pablo de Olavide University), who discussed the role of citizen science in the transformation of urban water management; Juan Manuel Jurado Rodríguez (University of Jaén), who presented initiatives from Living Labs and Data Spaces applied to the agri-food sector; and Jessica Renuka Mohan Purswani (University of Granada), who presented the SMARTBIOFERT project for the development of drought-resilient biofertilizers and digital decision support platforms.
Student associations and the promotion of young talent
The participation of the ETSi was reinforced by the presence of student associations from the University of Seville, which demonstrated the technical capacity and innovative potential of the students.
The teams ARUS Andalucía Racing Team , VANTUS AeroDesign Team , FYCUS and Coheteros US presented their projects at the forum, strengthening the connection between practical training, knowledge transfer and the business ecosystem.
During the meeting they received a visit from Carolina España , Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds of the Andalusian Regional Government; Antonio Miguel Posadas Chinchilla , Secretary General for Research and Innovation; and Nieves Valenzuela Romero , Director General for the Promotion of Innovation.
The joint participation of faculty, researchers and students in Transfiere 2026 reinforces the positioning of the ETSi as a strategic hub in university transfer, aligned with regional innovation policies and with the objectives of sustainability and digital transformation.
