Success in the VANTUS flight demonstration

The VANTUS team conducted a flight demonstration in Seville of their prototype, the "Cirio I," the electric aircraft with which they debuted in the international Air Cargo Challenge competition in Germany. The event was attended by sponsors, representatives from the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville, and numerous spectators, who were able to witness the fine-tuning and flight of this innovative radio-controlled aircraft prototype.

Among those present were the School Director, Andrés Sáez Pérez, and the Deputy Director of Innovation, Sergio Esteban Roncero, accompanied by professors from various departments of the School and members of other university associations. The flight demonstration of the “Cirio I” highlighted the work and effort of the VANTUS team, which represented the ETSi and the University of Seville in a top-level international competition.

The “Cirio I” prototype achieved 15th place out of 30 teams, standing out in the technical field and competing against renowned universities from around the world, from the United States to China. This achievement underscores the innovative potential and technical quality of the VANTUS team, who designed and built the aircraft with a special focus on sustainability, using exclusively electric propulsion to reduce its environmental impact.

Both the ETSI (School of Aeronautical Engineering) and the University of Seville as a whole highly value the achievement of this team, which, in addition to representing the institution internationally, promotes the advancement of sustainable technologies in the aeronautical sector. The experience and recognition gained not only open doors to future international competitions for the team, but also serve as inspiration and an example for other ETSI students interested in aeronautical engineering and technological innovation.

This demonstration day marked a milestone for VANTUS, consolidating its role as a benchmark in the creation of sustainable aircraft prototypes and as a representative of the talent of ETSI and US in the global arena.
