New EUR-ACE® International Quality Labels for ETSI Degrees

Publication date

The Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) at the University of Seville has been awarded the EUR-ACE® Label for its degrees offered through the Andalucía Tech International Campus of Excellence. Specifically, the ETSI has received the Label for its Bachelor's degrees in Energy Engineering, Electronic, Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, and Industrial Organization Engineering. As part of a joint International Campus of Excellence with the University of Málaga (School of Industrial Engineering), obtaining the EUR-ACE Label for these degrees represents a milestone in the accreditation of joint programs.
These degrees from the Andalucía Tech International Campus of Excellence join the other ETSI Bachelor's degrees that already held this Label (Bachelor's degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology Engineering, and Telecommunications Technology Engineering). Therefore, all degrees offered at the ETSI now hold this international recognition of excellence.

This recognition has positive retroactive effects for graduates of the Andalucía Tech degrees who graduated from the ETSI from November 2019 onwards.

The EUR-ACE® Program is a collaborative project involving 38 countries, primarily European, and supported by national evaluation agencies, such as ANECA in the case of Spain, which conducts the evaluations in each country. The EUR-ACE® Label is a certificate awarded by an agency authorized by the European Network for the Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) to a university for an undergraduate or master's degree in engineering evaluated according to a set of defined standards, in accordance with the principles of quality, relevance, transparency, recognition, and mobility established within the European Higher Education Area. Therefore, the Institute of Engineering of Spain (IIE), as one of the country's leading institutions for the engineering profession, and ANECA, as the main player in the degree accreditation renewal process in Spain, are collaborating to promote the quality and international recognition of Spanish undergraduate and master's degrees in engineering.

Obtaining the EUR-ACE® Label represents recognition for the Center's excellence in training engineering professionals across a multitude of disciplines. It is precisely the diversity of degrees offered by the ETSI that distinguishes it from other schools at the national level and is positively valued in obtaining the Label. In particular, the EUR-ACE® Label certifies that graduates of the evaluated degrees:

• They meet the quality criteria established and agreed upon by international higher education quality assurance agencies, based on international standards recognized by employers in Europe.
• It recognizes the quality of the degree both within and outside the country where it is offered, serving as an incentive for prospective students to choose it.
• It assures employers of graduates that the knowledge and practical skills of these graduates meet a range of international educational standards in the field of the degree bearing the Seal.

The ETSI Management continues to promote the development and modernization of the engineering degrees offered at the center, ensuring the quality of the curricula and teaching within the framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), and of the ETSI's common services, resulting in a better and more efficient service to the society to which the School is accountable. In particular, the ETSI intends to submit the remaining Master's degrees in Engineering for evaluation.
