More than 1800 young people participate in the ETSI Pre-University Days
More than 70 secondary schools from Seville city and province have visited the ETSi to inform potential future students about the training and research work of the School and the studies they can pursue if they decide to study one of the degrees taught in Engineering.
The Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville (ETSi) is hosting this week more than 1,800 students in their second year of Baccalaureate or second year of Higher Level Vocational Training Cycles with access to Engineering studies, eager to learn about the center and its facilities, as well as the degrees offered and the research carried out.
Visiting students, accompanied by their faculty advisors, are welcomed in the auditorium by the ETSI administration, which presents the School and its range of degrees, internships, mobility programs, career opportunities, and the research activities carried out at the center. They are then given a tour of the facilities of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville (ETSI), including the main building and the workshop and laboratory building, with particular emphasis on the research laboratories. This year, they will also have the opportunity to meet members of the student associations at the Center, with whom they can exchange opinions and ask questions about engineering studies and university life.
More than 70 secondary schools in Seville city and province have responded to the annual call made by the ETSi management to explain to potential future students the training and research work of the School and the studies they can pursue if they ultimately decide to opt for the different degrees taught in Engineering.
These workshops are part of an initiative by the ETSi management to provide a real and practical overview of the degrees offered at this center, as well as the research carried out in the field of Engineering, to high school and advanced vocational students who, in the coming months, will have to make one of the most important decisions of their lives: choosing their university studies, which will affect their academic and, later, professional future.
The ETSI in figures
The Higher Technical School of Engineering currently has over 6,000 students taught by 480 professors, with more than 700 graduates each year. In addition to its eight undergraduate degrees, it offers 11 Master's degrees, one Double Master's degree, and four Doctoral programs, which enroll nearly 1,500 new students annually. Its academic community thus comprises over 6,000 students and more than 500 professors and researchers, with a total of over 700 graduates each year.
The ETSI promotes these types of activities to raise awareness of studies that lead to the development of the engineering profession, which currently boasts one of the lowest or practically nonexistent unemployment rates both nationally and internationally. A study conducted by the Spanish Engineering Observatory highlights that in the next 10 years, Spain will need more than 200,000 new engineers to meet the needs of its business and economic development.
