Publication date

The Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi) of the University of Seville has successfully celebrated the X Andalusian Open Day ARCYTAN 2025 , a scientific-technological dissemination initiative aimed at promoting vocations in the field of engineering among pre-university students.

This event is part of a series of activities organized by the ETSi (School of Engineering) to introduce its academic programs and research to high school students, with the aim of helping them make an informed choice about the university where they will pursue their higher education. This strategy stems from the belief that firsthand knowledge of the university environment significantly contributes to guiding the academic future of students interested in engineering degrees.

ARCYTAN—High Performance in Science and Technology in Andalusia—reaches a significant milestone in its tenth edition, reinforcing its commitment to continuity and its dedication to fostering scientific and technological interest in early education. The initiative is aimed at first-year high school students and includes the awarding of 35 prizes to the students with the best academic performance.

The outstanding students will be invited to participate in the ARCYTAN 2025-2027 Scientific-Technological Stimulation Program, which will be held at the ETSi (School of Engineering) concurrently with their high school studies. This program aims to foster the scientific and technological talent of participating students and facilitate early exposure to university life and engineering methodologies.

To conclude the day, a conference was held featuring presentations by renowned professionals and academics. Participants included Jaime Domínguez Abascal, director of the ETSi (School of Engineering) from 2015 to 2019; María Jesús González Sánchez, head of the Clean Aviation program at Airbus; Paula Terrón González, leader of the VANTUS project; and José F. Vale Parapar, director of the ETSi from 1998 to 2002. Their presentations addressed the relationship between education, innovation, and technological development, as well as the current and future challenges facing engineering.

With the celebration of this tenth edition, the ETSi of the University of Seville reaffirms its commitment to scientific dissemination, talent attraction and the strengthening of the link between the university and the Andalusian pre-university education system.
