A team of students from ETSi in the European final of the TIMES competition

 

The JADA team, formed by the students of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of SevilleJavier Jiménez Pareja, Agustín Mayor Lora, David Barrero Fernández and Alejandro Rodríguez López, have competed in the European final of the prestigious international consulting case study competition TIMES (Tournament In Management and Engineering Skills), obtaining a fifth position. 

The competition, organized by the European network ESTIEM (European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management), It brought together the eight university teams that, after the semi-final played in Budapest (Hungary), qualified for the final in Aachen (Germany). 

The competition unfolds through tests of analysis and resolution of real business cases in which participants must demonstrate not only the skills and knowledge acquired at their respective universities, but also those other skills known as soft skillsessential to achieve success and optimal results not only in this type of competition, but also in the future as engineering professionals. 

The Seville team has demonstrated an excellent track record in the competition, having reached the final by overcoming various local, national, and European phases, contested by more than 50 teams and with the participation of over 200 students. This achievement marks a special milestone for ESTIEM LG Seville, association to which the qualified students belong, since no team from Seville had reached the final of this demanding international competition since 2017.

 

What is TIMES and what is ESTIEM?

TIMES (Tournament In Management and Engineering Skills) is the largest European student-organized consulting case study competition. The tournament aims to test the analytical, strategic, communication, and teamwork skills of engineering students from across Europe by having them solve real-world business challenges posed by partner companies.

ESTIEM (European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management) is a network that connects Industrial Engineering students in more than 70 European universities, promoting their academic and professional development through projects, exchanges and international competitions.

ESTIEM Sevilla (LG Sevilla) is the local group of this network at the University of Seville, active within the ETSi, where students organize and participate in training events, international competitions and personal and professional development activities in an international environment.
