Civil Engineering students visit the Portland Valderrivas cement plant in Seville
Second-year students of the Civil Engineering degree program at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville conducted a technical visit to the facilities of Cementos Portland Valderrivas SA, located in Seville. The activity was part of the "Construction Materials Technology" course and was led by Professor Pilar Díaz Carrasco.
The visit, funded by the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) through its program to support academic activities by means of bus transport, allowed the students to learn in depth about the cement manufacturing process, one of the fundamental materials in civil engineering.
During the day, the students received a detailed technical explanation of the different systems and stages of the cement production process. They also took a guided tour of the plant facilities, including a visit to the laboratories, where they observed compressive strength tests performed on different cement samples.
The technical session was led by Carlos José Rodríguez Fínez, Head of Quality at Grupo Cementos Portland Valderrivas, to whom special thanks are due for his involvement and clarity in the explanations provided.
This visit offered the future engineers a valuable practical experience, reinforcing the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and bringing them closer to the real environment of the construction materials industry.
