First Iberian Meeting of Young Engineers

The Professional Union of Colleges of Engineers, UPCI, and the Order of Engineers of Portugal will organize the 1st Iberian Meeting of Young Engineers October 26 and 27 at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville

The event will bring together nearly a thousand junior or final-year engineers specializing in Civil, Industrial, Naval, Aeronautical, Telecommunications, Forestry, Mining, ICAI or Agricultural Engineering from the Iberian Peninsula.

For two days, attendees will attend keynote lectures on Artificial Intelligence, Circular Economy, Industry 4.0, team competitions, and visits to companies in Seville and the surrounding area, such as Renault or Heineken, or to the Advanced Aerospace Technology Center.

The event will highlight the value of engineering, the master's level training that qualifies professionals, and the role of professional associations. In Spain, there are 700,000 engineers with master's degrees, representing a profession with an employability rate exceeding 98%.

Although Spanish engineers have a great reputation, Master's training will be able to increase the capacity of engineering companies and the development of ecological and digital transition projects.

In addition, the salaries of the profession will be addressed, with remuneration 30% higher than the national average, although a stagnation has been detected in recent decades.

The Congress will allow attendees to connect with other engineering colleagues from both Spain and Portugal and will be an opportunity for companies and consultancies, who will be able to see the future engineers of Spain and Portugal for two days.
