IV Call for the Aborgarse Award in Circular Economy
The Chair of Waste Management in the Circular Economy Aborgase at the University of Seville, created to promote teaching, research and dissemination activities, announces the IV Aborgase Award for the Best Works on Circular Economy.
The purpose of the Award is to recognize the best works on a topic directly related to the Circular Economy, which have been carried out between October 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022.
Two types of prizes are established, with a financial endowment of 1,000 and 1,500 euros respectively:
- Final Degree Projects (Bachelor's and Master's).
- Research Works (Theses and other academic or professional works).
The deadline for submitting applications will be January 15, 2023.
Rules for the Aborgase Prize Competition
The Chair aims to promote teaching, research, and outreach activities that examine the realities, challenges, and prospects for the development of young university students in the field of sustainability in general and the circular economy in particular. It focuses on developing training programs and research projects that contribute to improving education in these areas for students and graduates of various universities. The purpose of this award is to recognize the best final projects, both undergraduate and master's theses, as well as research projects (doctoral dissertations or other), that address a topic directly related to the circular economy.
Two prize categories are established, with cash awards of €1,000 and €1,500 respectively. These amounts will be paid in a single installment, once the eligibility requirements established in this call for applications have been met, and will be presented at a public ceremony to be held during the 2022/2023 academic year at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville (ETSi). The corresponding withholding tax for Personal Income Tax will be applied to the payment.
Those whose works (Final Degree Project, Final Master's Project, Doctoral Thesis, or Research Project) conform to the objective described in point 1 of these rules, and which have been carried out between October 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022, in one of the two modalities, may compete for this award:
- Final Degree Projects (Bachelor's and Master's).
- Research Works (Theses and other academic or professional works).
To participate in the Call for Proposals, the applicant must submit the following documentation:
- Application in accordance with the model shown in Annex I of this call.
- A complete copy of the Work in electronic format.
- Summary of the Work in electronic format, with a maximum length of five pages, which must include the object of the Work, the results obtained and the interest of the topic covered.
- Certificate accrediting (if applicable) the grade obtained by the Work.
- Curriculum Vitae of the applicant
The deadline for submitting applications is January 15, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.All documentation must be submitted electronically to catedraeconomiacircular@us.es, with a copy to marvalero-ext@us.es.

The awarding of the prize will be subject to the following provisions:
- Submitting a work to the Prize implies acceptance by its author of the Terms and Conditions of the call.
- Failure by the beneficiary to comply with the obligations set out in this call may result in the withdrawal of the prize with the corresponding reimbursement of the amounts received.
- The review of applications will be carried out in a competitive process and, for this purpose, only the documentation provided in the applications will be considered.
- Applications will be evaluated by a Commission made up of a minimum of two representatives from Aborgase, and two representatives from the University of Seville, one of whom will be the Chair Director, who will act as Secretary.
- The Evaluation Committee will issue a decision regarding the Award, which must include the following documentation: a) Minutes of the Evaluation Committee meeting. b) List of award recipients.
- The Evaluation Committee may declare the Prize void and will resolve any incidents that may arise.
The decision of the Evaluation Committee will be final and will be made public on the Chair's website, with express notification to the award winners.
The Chair Director, in addition to the powers conferred upon him, will be empowered to resolve any incidents that may arise, as well as to carry out any actions necessary in the execution of this call.
