The ETSI brings together experts in Artificial Intelligence
The ETSi brings together experts in Artificial Intelligence at the opening day of the ARCyTAN program 2023-24
26 high school students gained access to one of the places in the High Performance in Science and Technology program in Andalusia, ARCyTAN
The Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi) of the University of Seville hosted a Round Table yesterday, December 12, entitled “Present and Future of Artificial Intelligence” , framed within the ARCytan project (High Performance in Science and Technology in Andalusia) which since 2015 has worked with high school students from all over Andalusia, giving them the opportunity to come to the Center regularly to receive pre-university guidance, scientific-technical workshops, technological visits, etc.
Moderated by Emilio Carrizosa, president of the Spanish Network of Mathematics-Industry (math-in), experts in the field such as Teodoro Álamo, professor of Systems Engineering and Automation at ETSi; Héctor García, Founder of Geographic, currently part of Carto; Yolanda Torres, medical director of the San Juan de Dios Hospital of Aljarafe; and Alicia Troncoso, president of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA), will discuss this highly topical issue that is generating so much interest among new generations.
During the afternoon, and prior to the experts' debate panel, the Science and Technology Olympiad took place, in which 90 high school students, selected from among the more than 150 registered and with an average grade of 9 in their studies, performed a test of scientific-technical knowledge to be selected and become part of the new group of students of the ARCyTAN 2023-24 program.
After the test, a total of 26 young people will have the opportunity to get to know the Center and its scientific and technological activity during a decisive year for their university future.
The ETSi (School of Engineering) is launching this program with the main objective of bringing the studies offered at the School, the university environment, and the field of engineering closer to secondary school students in Andalusia. Through this initiative, the ETSi aims to foster young people's interest in this area of knowledge, so crucial for boosting the region's socio-economic activity.
