Presentation of the Industrial PhD Programs and research collaborations in Electric Aviation of the company Dovetail Electric Aviation

On July 3rd, at 10:30, in the ETSi Boardroom , a presentation will be made by the company Dovetail Electric Aviation of the collaboration agreement with the ETSi for the implementation of Industrial Doctoral Programs and research collaborations in the field of electric aviation development.

Dovetail Electric Aviation is an international company with a presence in both Spain and Australia. They are seeking Master's students nearing graduation who are interested in pursuing a PhD program at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. They would like to introduce themselves to current students and prospective researchers from the ETSI (School of Engineering) who are interested in the various research areas offered within their PhD programs, which are related to the following disciplines:

  1. Fault tolerant power electronics safe electric power architectures for aviation
  2. Intelligent energy management systems with AI and ML
  3. Development and optimization of mechanical components for fuel cell aviation powerplants
  4. Optimization of aerodynamic and thermal effects for aviation fuel cells

This PhD program is part of Dovetail's plans to develop electric aviation concepts, initially by converting turboprop aircraft to electric, but in the future even designing them from scratch. The PhD program will be specifically related to the first conversion of a Beechcraft King Air to hydrogen-electric, and the round-the-Australia flight campaign that will include the longest hydrogen-powered flights operated to date.

The event is planned to be organized in two phases:

  1. A first phase in which the company Dovetail Electric Aviation will present the doctoral program and its strategic lines.
  2. A second phase in which the company encourages different research groups related to the field of electric aviation from the ETSI to make short 10-minute presentations of their main lines (from aircraft design, aerodynamics, propulsion, materials, manufacturing, electronics, power, energy management, optimization of structures, fuel cells, etc...)

We believe this is an excellent opportunity to establish research partnerships with Dovetail Electric Aviation, as well as an incredible opportunity for students interested in pursuing doctoral studies. The meeting will be the ideal venue for the company to provide further information about its PhD programs and collaborations with researchers at the ETSI (School of Engineering).

Research groups wishing to present their research lines are kindly requested to send an email to empresas-etsi@us.es , with a copy to sesteban@us.es , in order to coordinate schedules. Additional information about the company is attached.
