JAE-INTRO Scholarship Offer for Introduction to Research AIHUB-CSIC
Apply for the JAE-INTRO Research Introduction Grant at AIHUB-CSIC
The IMSE neuromorphic hardware systems group develops sensors and artificial intelligence systems based on information encoding using pulses, mimicking the nerve impulses of biological neurons. This type of encoding significantly reduces information flow, resulting in systems that consume less energy, are more portable, and are more powerful. This is the paradigm of neuromorphic computing, a form of artificial intelligence. The group has access to the IBM Loihi Kapoho Bay platform, capable of hosting systems with up to 262,000 neurons and synapses with learning capabilities. The specific project proposed for the selected student would involve, in addition to becoming familiar with the Loihi system and its Python tool Lava, implementing a small system that interacts with our cameras using pulses and performs some basic real-time vision processing. The specific details will be adapted to the student's prior training and thematic interests.
