Seville hosts the International Congress on Industrial Engineering focused on Data Science and Sustainability

More than 140 experts from seven countries will meet from July 3 to 4, 2025 at the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville to participate in the 19th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management (ICIEIM) and the XXIX Congress of Organizational Engineering (CIO 2025).

Organized by the Association for the Development of Organizational Engineering (ADINGOR) Organized by the Department of Industrial Organization and Business Management II of the University of Seville, the congress brings together researchers and professionals from the academic and industrial fields, who will share more than 150 presentations focused on the latest advances in organizational engineering, operational efficiency and applied data science. It will be an exceptional opportunity for scientific collaboration, promoting a unique forum to disseminate, in all academic and industrial fields, information on the latest and most relevant research, theories and practices in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.

The opening session was chaired by Miguel Ángel Castro Arroyo, Rector of the University of Seville, and was attended by Lorena Garrido Serrano, Deputy Minister of University, Research and Innovation; Andrés Sáez Pérez, Director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville; María del Mar Alemany Díaz, President of ADINGOR; and Pablo Cortés Achedad, organizer of the congress.

Under the motto “Data Science: Challenges and Applications in Industrial Engineering”This edition focuses on data management and analysis as a strategic tool for optimizing decisions, reducing impacts, and improving quality of life. From logistics to healthcare, including transportation and energy, the application of scientific models in the organization of systems allows for the construction of safer, more humane, and more sustainable environments.

The event consolidates a trajectory that began in 1986 and has been held annually since 1999 in different Spanish cities, such as Barcelona (2023) and Madrid (2024), establishing itself as a reference forum for the dissemination of innovative research and real solutions in the field of Organizational Engineering.

Organizational Engineering: From Data to Social Improvement

Organizational engineering not only improves business processes; it also transforms the environments in which we live. By applying data analysis tools in areas such as hospital care, urban distribution, and energy consumption, more personalized, efficient, and responsible systems are achieved, aligning productivity with social and environmental commitment.

Seville, a strategic setting for global debate

Seville was chosen as the venue for the congress due to both its academic relevance and its strategic profile. A city with a strong industrial heritage and a significant commitment to innovation – with hubs such as the Port of Seville, the Aeropolis Park, and the Cartuja Science and Technology Park – it represents an ideal environment for addressing the current challenges of organizational engineering.

In addition to its excellent connectivity and hotel offerings, the Andalusian capital provides an unparalleled cultural and human environment, making this congress an enriching professional and personal experience University of Seville, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country, provides the necessary academic rigor to connect local and international research talent with the real needs of the productive sector.
