Presentation of the Industrial Doctorate Programs and research collaborations in Electric Aviation of the company Dovetail Electric Aviation

On July 3, at 10:30, in the ETSi Board Room , there will be a presentation by the company Dovetail Electric Aviation of the collaboration agreement with the ETSi for the realization of Industrial Doctorate Programs and research collaborations in the field of electric aviation development.

Dovetail Electric Aviation is an international company with a presence in both Spain and Australia, looking for master's students close to graduating and interested in undertaking a doctoral program at the University of New South Wales in Sydney for which they would like to apply both to students and potential ETSI researchers who are interested in the different lines of research proposed within the doctoral programs, which will be related to the following disciplines:

  1. Fault tolerant power electronics safe electric power architectures for aviation
  2. Intelligent energy management systems with AI and ML
  3. Development and optimization of mechanical components for fuel cell aviation powerplants
  4. Optimization of aerodynamic and thermal effects for aviation fuel cells

This PhD program is integrated into Dovetail's plans to develop electric aviation concepts, initially with the conversion of turboprop aircraft to electric, but in the future even with a design from scratch. The PhD program will be specifically related to the first conversion of a Beechcraft King Air to hydrogen-electric, and the flight campaign around Australia which will include the longest hydrogen-powered flights operated to date.

The day is planned to be organized in two phases:

  1. A first phase in which the company Dovetail Electric Aviation will present the doctoral program and its strategic lines.
  2. A second phase in which the company encourages different research groups related to the field of electric aviation of the ETSI to make brief 10-minute presentations of their main lines (from aircraft design, aerodynamics, propulsion, materials, manufacturing, electronics, power, energy management, structure optimization, fuel cells, etc...)

We believe that it is a very good opportunity to establish both lines of research with Dovetail Electric Aviation, as well as an incredible opportunity for those students who want to develop a PhD. The meeting will be the ideal place for the company to present additional information about the Doctorate Programs and collaborations with ETSI researchers.

Those research groups that want to present their lines of research are asked to send an email to companies-etsi@us.es , with a copy to sesteban@us.es , to be able to coordinate the times. Additional information about the company is attached:
