The ETSI awarded at the IX Andalusia Awards for Engineering and Industry for its historic contribution to the training of engineers

Within the framework of the 175th Anniversary of Industrial Engineering Studies in Spain , the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville has been distinguished with one of the awards of the IX Andalusian Awards of Engineering and Industry , granted by the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Andalusia Western . The act took place in the emblematic Cruzcampo tower of Seville, symbol of the city's industrial heritage.

The prize was collected by the director of the ETSI, Andrés Sáez Pérez , who attended the act accompanied by a large group of professors and professors that make up the academic community of the center, reflecting the collective commitment to quality training, research excellence and the link with the industry.

The ETSI of Seville, founded in December 1963 , is the Dean Center for Industrial Engineering Studies in Andalusia . He officially began his teaching activity in the 1966/1967 course and, since then, he has established himself as one of the longest and most prestigious schools in Spain in the delivery of higher engineering studies. His first promotion of industrial engineers graduated in 1972 , now, more than 17,000 graduates have gone through their classrooms, contributing their knowledge and capacities to both regional and national industrial and technological fabric.

Currently, ETSI has an extensive academic offer, with 8 degree, 12 master's degrees and 4 doctoral programs. In addition, it maintains a close link with the industrial and business fabric of its environment, which favors important synergies between market demand and the specialization of their graduates.

At present, ETSI offers a broad and consolidated academic structure , composed of 8 degree degrees, 12 master's degrees and 4 doctoral programs , covering the main engineering disciplines. This academic structure is reinforced by a close collaboration with the industrial and business fabric , articulated through numerous agreements, joint projects and, especially, by the existence of 15 active company chairs . These chairs constitute a strategic instrument for knowledge transfer , which facilitates the connection between academic training and real demands of the productive sector, thus promoting sustainable synergies between university and industry and a high employability of graduates .

The Andalusian Engineering and Industry Awards , promoted since 2015 by the College, have the objective of recognizing the professional excellence of engineers, entities and institutions that contribute promptly to the prestige of engineering , industrial development of Andalusia and the economic and social progress of the community.

Along with the ETSI of the University of Seville, the remaining industrial engineering schools in Western Andalusia were also honored, highlighting their role in the training of highly qualified professionals:

  • Higher School of Engineering of the University of Cádiz

  • Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Córdoba

  • Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Huelva

  • Higher Technical School of Engineering of Algeciras

  • Higher School of Engineering of the University Loyola

This award consolidates the role of the ETSI of the University of Seville as an academic, scientific and technological reference , and its firm vocation of leadership in the promotion of engineering, innovation and industrial progress of Andalusia and Spain.
