The University of Seville and Moeve consolidate their alliance with the inauguration of a space dedicated to training, talent search and innovation
The Moeve Classroom strengthens the collaboration between ETSi and Moeve, bringing university training closer to the needs of the industrial sector.
The Higher Technical School of Engineering (ETSi) of the University of Seville and Moeve inaugurate the Moeve Classroom, a flagship space of the energy and sustainable mobility company, in which many of the training and dissemination activities carried out by the Moeve Chair of the University of Seville within its action plan will be developed, among others.
The event was attended by Lorena Garrido, Deputy Minister of Universities, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Andrés Sáez Pérez, Director of the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the University of Seville; Antonio Joyanes, Vice President of Energy Parks and Exploration and Production at Moeve; Jesús García Arieta, Director of Human Resources for Energy Parks at Moeve; and Benito Navarrete Rubia, Director of the Moeve Chair at the University of Seville. Following the inauguration of the Moeve Classroom, a discussion entitled “Dialoguing with the Students of the Higher Technical School of Engineering” took place, in which the participants answered questions of interest to the students, fostering an exchange of ideas about education, innovation, and opportunities for collaboration between the University and industry.
In the words of the ETSI Director, Andrés Sáez: “The Moeve Classroom represents a reaffirmation for our School of Moeve's long-standing commitment to our academic community and the School's commitment to our industrial environment. It reinforces the close collaboration that, even before the establishment of the Moeve Chair—originally the Cepsa Chair—has united both institutions around common goals.”
This partnership is characterized by its dual nature. On the one hand, it allows the University to connect with industry, aligning its training with the professional profiles demanded by the market and facilitating better job placement for students. On the other hand, it enables industry to actively collaborate with the University, contributing values, high-quality training, and practical experience that enrich and complement our students' education.
In this context, the Higher Technical School of Engineering currently has 16 endowed chairs, established in partnership with leading companies in their respective sectors, covering almost all undergraduate and master's degree programs offered at the Center. These alliances reinforce the ETSi's commitment to providing excellent training, closely linked to professional practice and technological and industrial development.
Taken together, this collaboration contributes to the economic and social progress of our region by fostering the creation of skilled jobs and enabling the industrial fabric to strengthen and expand, creating an environment of sustainable and shared development between academia and business.”
Antonio Joyanes, Vice President of Energy Parks and Exploration and Production at Moeve, stated: “At Moeve, we firmly believe that the future is better if we build it together, through alliances and cooperation between academia and business, and between the public and private sectors. This is how we will generate truly useful ecosystems for knowledge transfer and innovation. This wealth of perspectives is essential in the decarbonization challenge that Moeve is leading, with Andalusia as a strategic location.”
For Joyanes, a former student of the ETSi, “the greatest attraction a company can have for a student today is its corporate purpose; that is, what footprint, what legacy that company seeks to leave on the planet. Identifying with the company's purpose is key for talent development, enabling our young people to discover their genuine value, their contribution to improving our environment, and the uniqueness of their role within professional teams. The most valuable asset of any company or institution is its human capital. And the Moeve Chair at the University of Seville focuses on people, their training, and their motivation to be part of the energy transition.”
About the Moeve Chair at the University of Seville:
The Moeve Chair at the University of Seville stems from a scientific and educational collaboration agreement between the University of Seville and the Moeve company and its Foundation. This agreement, initially signed 16 years ago with the Higher Technical School of Engineering, was extended to the entire University in 2017. It represents an alliance focused on research into energy production, decarbonization, and the contribution of industry to a more sustainable economic and social development, advancing towards a circularity model and continuous improvement of environmental quality.
Thus, the Moeve Chair at the University of Seville aims to be a valuable resource for students of the School of Engineering (ETSi), contributing to the improvement of their training in the challenge of preparing for the energy transition by promoting teaching activities, technical collaboration, and multidisciplinary research. The Chair's mission is to continue strengthening the links between academia and the business sector. Through this alliance, Moeve professionals will also be able to take advantage of the Chair's opportunities, benefiting both Moeve as a leading company in decarbonization and the ETSi as an institution of higher education, research, and technology transfer.
About Moeve:
Moeve is an international company with over 11,000 employees, committed to sustainable energy and mobility. Its mission is to be a driving force behind the energy transition in Europe, accelerating its own decarbonization and that of its customers.
After more than 90 years as a leading energy company under the name Cepsa, in October 2024 it launched its new brand, Moeve, reflecting its accelerated transformation to lead the production of sustainable energy based on green molecules, such as green hydrogen and second-generation biofuels, as well as the production of sustainable chemicals. The company is also developing an extensive network of ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations in Spain and Portugal to promote sustainable mobility.
Through its 2030 strategic plan, Positive Motion, Moeve is working to transform mobility and energy to improve the world, ensuring today's energy supply while focusing on facilitating the sustainable energy of the future.
This year, 2025, Moeve is celebrating its 60th anniversary in Andalusia, where it will develop the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley (VAHV). It is the most ambitious project of its kind in Europe, with an investment of €3 billion and a projected creation of 10,000 jobs across the entire value chain. Assigned to the Andalusian Regional Government's Project Accelerator Unit (UAP) as a strategic project, it is also the only one in the region to have received funding from the PERTE program of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. With Moeve's Energy Parks in San Roque (Campo de Gibraltar, Cádiz) and Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) as key sites, it will enhance the role of Andalusia and Spain as producers and exporters of green energy.
